Jade and Ron: Candy Buffet

July 9th, 2009 @ 3:55 pm by Real Weddings

Ever since our wedding planning started, I wanted to do a candy buffet. I wanted to make sure our guests were comfortable and felt appreciated when they left the wedding. I started to collect different jars slowly. I didn’t buy all the jars at once. I just shopped around at Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, Target, etc…

main

I didn’t want to have just candy, so I did some research on cupcakes and came across this site: bakerella.com. She had some cake pops that looked really fun, so I started making them. I normally don’t eat desserts that much, but my husband is a HUGE fan so I thought it’d be fun to make a big spread of desserts and candy.

The best thing to do for a candy buffet is to lay out all your vases to see how you want them to line up. Take a picture and when it’s time to set up, it’s easier for you or your helper. I also wrote on the picture which candy went in which jars. I made all the labels and tied them to each jar and packed it all up for the venue.

2

I made all the cupcakes, cake pops, and petit fours the day before the wedding with the help of my mom and my sister. It took us a while, but it was all worth it.

With a bit of creativity and a lot of organization, you’ll be able to make a great candy table. I put flowers in some vases and used candle holders in the shapes of squares, circles, and rectangles to put on top. They made nice cupcake stands for our desserts. We had our family pick out their favorite engagement pictures of us and put them on a Photofall stand to add a bit of fun to the candy table.

I had containers and little treat bags for the guests to take home. The candy buffet was a huge hit and the guests seemed to enjoy it very much. The pictures turned out great, too!

I seriously am in love with this whole spread. More than anything, though, I LOVE THE CUPCAKES. How on earth did you manage to decorate them so intricately the day before the wedding? Did you use fondant? Tell the truth — are you a professional baker by night? =D

My crazy sister always like to decorate cakes and taught me how to do it. It took us a long time to do it. This is where you think cake decorators are crazy.

Fantastic! I love the candy bar - very creative! I’d love to know what the cost to pull this off was? Our reception venue offers the option for them to do a candy bar but its $300+ (which seems outrageous for candy)! Again, Very well done!

This is the best candy buffet I’ve ever seen! I’m so happy you showed it off in such detail so I can replicate it. Even the signs are readable. Thank you!

We spent about $150 for the candy since it was valentine’s day sale. The cupcakes and things are about $130. The vases are expensive but you can sell them back or use them around the house especially the gorgeous apothecary jars.

My cousin made the cake pops for 4th of July. They are amazing and everyone loved them. If it’s at all possible, I’m having them as a late night snack at my wedding!
