March 22, 2009. I didn’t even check the weather once during the last few weeks of planning. I hardly check the weather on a regular basis, so why start now? I figured that nothing would change whether or not it rained. I would still wear the same dress, and the same shoes. The wedding would still go on, and they would serve the same food. I was very lucky though, because it ended up being such an amazing, gorgeous day.
The night before, I stayed at the hotel with one of my BMs. This BM is usually the logical one out of the group and rarely shows emotion, compared to me, who tends to overflow with too much emotion. She wrote me a very long and humbling card, which brought me to tears as I read it. We sat together hugging and crying. I think that is when it really hit me: I was really getting married! It was really happening!
Early the next morning all the ladies were to meet at Makeup Blush, located in Edgewater NJ, to get our makeup done. We decided to stay on location instead of having them travel to meet us at the hotel, simply because we thought it would be more convenient that way. They had chairs, mirrors, and all the tools needed to beautify us, and the location was just 20 minutes from the venue. I felt that it would probably do more harm then good to have Blush make over nine ladies in a cramped hotel room.
Jiyee starting on my makeup. As soon as she saw me when I walked in, she exclaimed, “Oh no, you cried last night didn’t you??” Apparently, my eyes were super puffy. ![]()
She worked on me solely, and even joked that nobody was allowed to touch the bride. I LOVE Jiyee and I was so extremely happy with how my hair and makeup turned out. The one and only complaint I have is that my curls started coming out while I was headbanging and dancing like a maniac during the reception. But I guess I probably shouldn’t have been dancing like a maniac in a wedding dress. ![]()
Breakfast of Champions - Muffins and…
… rich chocolate cupcakes made by MOH J. True cupcake lovers will confess that cupcakes are awesome any time of the day, and to reward myself for dieting for so long, I enjoyed my cupcake immensely.
I will have six former BMs charge at me and attack me if I post any close up pictures of them without makeup on, so I will refrain from doing so. But here’s a shot of where all the magic happens.
While I was being worked on in another area of the room, the BMs were placed in a sort of assembly line. Everyone first had their hair placed in curls, and then came foundation, and then one by one had their eyes, cheeks, and lips done.
Waiting for my own curls.
Frizz fest!
All done! I adored my hair, and the silk flower that I found on Etsy. Again, my motto has always been simple, simple, simple, and I knew I didn’t want anything sparkly - so this plain ivory flower was perfect for me.
MOH J covering up BM E’s tattoo. I think all of us tried and failed to cover it up completely - until one of the makeup artists offered to cover it up for her, and none of us could even tell there was a tattoo there!
