My mister and I are planning a vibrant summer soiree celebrating our passions – including food and Philly – and when we make it official, we’ll have been together for eight years! About Mrs. Bruschetta

Jaw, Meet Floor

July 10th, 2009 @ 1:52 pm by Mrs. Bruschetta

In mid-May, our reception venue hosted a networking evening for 300+ wedding professionals in partnership with Brides.com and Brides Philadelphia/South Jersey. No, I wasn’t in attendance. (I wish!) But our caterer — one of the event sponsors — recently sent me the link to an online photo gallery. And as I clicked through them, I realized my mouth was actually wide open. (All images courtesy of Brides.com.)

Seeing these photos has me even more excited for our wedding day feast — and soooo happy we’re going to be in attendance for the entire cocktail hour. How delish does this all look?!

I loved seeing this side of our venue — until I started to worry. Will our wedding be too plain? Is our idea — to let the beauty of this old-bank-turned-modern-art-gallery shine through — lazy? Or cheap?

5

Mrs. Cupcake once wrote about venue envy. Well, um… we’ve got the venue. Is it possible to have event envy?

6

7

So I kept clicking, and realized that few weddings are this elaborate.

8

And even if we could afford to throw this much money into rentals to dress up the F.U.E.L. House, I don’t know that we would. Such a well-staged event definitely wouldn’t feel “us” enough. Personalizing our wedding, so that at the end of the evening guests are remarking how it seemed like the perfect reflection of our tastes, is my goal. Amazing lounge furniture would be a fabulous bonus, but it’s totally not necessary!

Have you attended — or seen pictures of — a lavish event in your reception space? Have you had to make peace with event envy?

Yes, (and Bru I would have gotten married at the FUEL house if we weren’t so heck bent on a hotel)

I saw pictures on my photographers website of a wedding he did at our hotel with ALL the trimmings I want and most likely can’t afford! We SOO wanted to drape the ballroom, have a white dance floor and cool lighting effects. I sent those pix to my florist and asked her to get as close as possible within our budget..

Wow… the location just gave ME location envy. I’m from NJ and with our budget, anything in the Philly/NY/NJ area- ESPECIALLY with the italiano vibe I know you’ll throw at it, I get jealous since we weren’t able to afford the area. I would say that your event will be MUCH more you, and you will get a jaw-hits-floor feeling of a different variety when you finally see it all put together! Can’t wait to see it!

Holy Moly! I’ve seen lavish events at our other venue choices, but all the weddings I’ve seen @ our winery have been very modest and country cute :) Like you, I feel those lavish ones just wouldn’t have been us.

Ok, I’m dumb, and just looked at the pics. The venue is amazing…I stand by that statement. But I will admit that I was so envious looking at that elaborate event! I agree, I’m not sure that the bada-bing is us either (although it’s very nice to look at)!

Beautiful!

I’ve definitely felt the same thing about our venue. They have had some pretty freaking amazing events in there and I keep wondering, “is our wedding going to be nice enough to stand up to the loft??” I totally think we’re both going to be fine, though, despite the anxiety :)

Yes i have! A bee has gotten married at my location (which i JUST found out!) but also a neighbor, who told us about the place. It’s just so gorgeous, you could do anything with it and still look AMAZING. Or nothing, really. I don’t feel the pangs!

That food looks amazing! Your venue is completely stunning without any of those extras! It’s going to look great!
