Mrs. French Bulldog's Picture
Mrs. French Bulldog, Orange County Age and Occupation: 28, Administrative Assistant & Interior Design Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Purchasing Analyst Engagement Date: November 8, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2009 Venue: Bernardo Winery About Me: I've lived in Atlanta, Dallas and Laguna Niguel; although I've lived in Orange County, CA most my life, I'm a Southerner at heart. I work full time for a Commercial General Contractor (aka my father) and I go to school for Interior Design at night. I love modern design, music, wine, crafting, DMailing, my family, my Westies, and of course, Mr Frenchie! Mr Frenchie and I met 3 years ago on Match.com and have been best friends ever since. I love his "old soul" and how he laughs with his whole body, among many other things. We are planning our summer wedding at the winery near his hometown, just 45 minutes south of Orange County.
About Mrs. French Bulldog

As I’ve mentioned, Mr Frenchie and I are waiting until after we’re married to live together. Since our wedding is less than 2 short months away (holy cwap!), I’m really happy we nailed down where that will be last weekend.

I would like to tell you we sat down and looked at all the apartment complexes on a map between his work (A) and my work (B), and that we contemplated drive times and proximities to grocery stores, etc. But we didn’t.

See Dana Point on that map? See Newport Beach (B)? That is my commute. I’m used to it, as I’ve driven it every (work) day for the past 7 years and it’s not bad at all, especially if I have enough time to drive up the coast. The funny thing is that from Dana Point to where Mr Frenchie works (A), it takes about the same amount of time to get to his office. It doesn’t make any sense, I know. Anyway, so we just looked for an apartment close to where we already live. Stick with what you know, right?

About 5 months ago Mr Frenchie and I were at our Sunday Starbucks place (What, you don’t have a Starbucks for different days of the week?) and decided to go look at apartments. There is a great complex right next to the shopping center with the Starbucks, so we headed there first. It turns out that first stop was our last stop, because we LOVED the place.

The floor plan we liked has tons of light, a great patio and an island in the kitchen. There are also streams that run around the complex. We fell in love. The only problem was, at the time, we still had to wait MONTHS until we could live in it. We put our names on a list, and this past weekend, we secured our unit. Mr Frenchie will move in at the end of July and I’ll move my stuff that I don’t need on a daily basis over as well. (My parents are very excited to get my dining table and hutch out of their garage.) This way we don’t have to do a ton of moving when we get back from our honeymoon.

I’m curious: if you’re not living with each other until after the wedding, when did you start moving your stuff into your new home?

Soo happy for you! Getting a place is awesome and exciting all in its own.

Its only been 2 weeks since we’ve been back from our honeymoon. I had bought a house last year (didn’t see the wedding come otherwise I would have waited to buy it together). So Mr. Sonipapdi is slowly moving his stuff in and I’m slowly clearing away space for him to do so. As all you working people surely know, weekdays are not possible do do such tasks and our weekends are filled so far. I think over a month it will get done, we’ll see. :)

We don’t live together yet either… although in 8 days we will! I had all these grand plans of fully moving my stuff over before the wedding (we own a condo together, he lives there now) but with the last minute wedding rush, my motivation has been really low!

Woo hoo, congrats!!! We aren’t living together until after the wedding as well. As for moving my stuff in….I have no idea when that will happen! If nothing changes the house that FI currently rents is where we’ll live. However neither of us want to be there for long. So I guess we’ll cross those bridges when we come to them.

That is a good question! I’m not sure exactly but the Mr. figured we would have time after the honeymoon to move all our stuff in *sigh* not exactly what I would want but with my hectic school schedule (graduation & wedding on the same day!) it’s kinda hard to squeeze moving pieces of furniture in between finals, ya know? I guess I’ll deal =)

We just bought a house - so everything that I didn’t need in the next 6 months, just moved down with the Mr. to the house! The next move is a bit trickier, it’s only my bedroom furniture, but we may have to wait until after the wedding to move it down. Congrats on the apt.!

Great topic! We are getting married in 21 days and we currently do not live together. Our place is in construction phase right now. We are praying it will be done one week before the wedding.

So exciting! We are getting our place about one month before (hopefully) so that we can move stuff and gifts in as we receive it. We thought it would maybe be less stressful if we could do the majority of organizing and unpacking before the wedding and not come home from the honeymoon to craziness!!

Congrats on finding a place, it looks gorgeous! I’m doing the same thing you are. Our house closes at the end of this month, he will move in around then and I will slowly move my stuff over there. I’m in no rush, especially since we have to strip the whole house and paint!

@pam2899: I hope your house is finished in time :)
@Andrea: Rent is not cheap in my area, but I don’t know how it is compared to other areas b/c this is all I know.

Cute place! We didn’t move in together until we got married last fall. My husband moved into our apartment about a month before we married and I moved in after the honeymoon. I moved in a few things before the big move, but not too much. Luckily, I was able to take off a lot of time from work for my wedding, so I just packed and moved in the week after we got back from our honeymoon and before I went back to work.

@Miss Duckling: I don’t want to come home from the honeymoon to craziness either, but my mom is SUPER paranoid about our new apt being broken into while we’re on our honeymoon and all our new stuff getting stolen, so most of our gifts will stay at my parents house until we get back hahaha

The area where you and Mr. French Bulldog will live is goregeous! My fiance and I were in Los Angeles this summer, and we took a trip down to Orange County. I loved it so much that I made the Mr. promise that when we retire, we can retire to the Laguna Beach/Newport Beach area. :) Your apartment is gorgeous, too!
