About Mrs. Mascara

An Overdue Post

July 11th, 2009 @ 5:00 pm by Mrs. Mascara

So I’m fairly certain that with less than two months to go, I’ve never actually posted about my color scheme. I’m sure you could figure it out based on some of my other posts (like the bridesmaids’ dresses, groomsmen’s attire, etc.) but I never officially posted about it. To tell you the truth, I was too lazy to find the correct shades of all the colors and put them together. Don’t ask me why, because it probably would have taken all of five minutes, but I didn’t do it. But yesterday when I checked my mail, our color scheme was sitting right there on the front page of the Crate and Barrel Fall Preview catalog. So I figured since they put it together for me, I might as well share it with all of you!

Plum purple, teal blue, olive green, and white. That would be our color scheme, friends! Apparently it is on trend at the moment, which is funny since I picked it out last summer. It’s also funny because several people have given me looks like, ‘are you sure?’ or have said things like “Oh, that’s interesting,” when I’ve told them about our colors. If Crate and Barrel thinks it’s cool, then I’m cool with it too. How about you?

Did you find your color scheme to be more “on trend” than you expected? I’ll admit it’s kind of nice, since now it’s not so hard to find things in these colors to use for decor purposes!

Love these colors! I considered adding plum to our teal and moss color palette, but decided to stick with just the two… I LOVE the way this looks together, though!!

honestly, I got my inspiration for our wedding colors from crate & barrel too! I had been toying with the whole “lavender & deep red” color scheme for a bit, but couldn’t ever find the right shades. Then one day I was walking past a c&b, and there it was - a picture of my colors! I can’t actually find the print I saw in the window anymore, though :(

I love it! It’s perfect for a September wedding: it’s not too summery but it doesn’t scream fall either.

@tessabella76: I’m so glad you said that because in-between seasons are REALLY hard to pick colors for, and you are SO right!!! We had a hard time with our March colors- spring? winter? Depends on the day. We decided on black & white damask with a delightfully muted lime green. I think Miss Mascara’s colors are, like you said, perfect for summer/fall without being “too either.”

Those where my old bedroom colors!! I just love them! For the wedding I just piked my ultimate favorite : Purple, FI’s favorite: Green, and now we are adding brown shades just because we are having lots of “wood” stuff :)

Love your colors!!!

I love your colors! So vibrant! My colors are sort of all over the place. I’ve had trouble finding certain things to match my scheme.

Wow — that is weird to find that something you’ve been using as a scheme for a year is suddenly popular! =D On the one hand it’s good, ’cause people are less likely to be like “hunh?” when you tell them, if you add in that your colours are really popular this year, but on the other it kinda is frustrating…it’s like someone read your mind and laid claim to your idea before you could.

One thing’s for sure: with a colour combo like that, your wedding is sure to be vibrant and exciting!

Those are my colors too! Except ivory instead of white, and some navy thrown in perhaps cause I can’t resist it.

We’re so trendy right now! ;-] Awesome!

This combo reminds me of the colors found in peacock feathers (which I think are popular to use in weddings now too). If God saw fit to put all of those colors together in nature, how can they NOT look good in a wedding? ; )
