Flower Girl Dress Finds

July 11th, 2009 @ 3:45 pm by Mrs. Mouse

Lately I’ve been combing the web for flower girl dresses. I’ve waited until relatively late to purchase them, since little kids seem to grow so fast—I want to make sure they still fit come time for them to wear them. I am in love with the idea of the girls wearing cute little ballet flats that match their dresses. But what should those dresses look like? Ideally, I want them to be white or pale pink, and they shouldn’t be too poufy or tutu-y.

This one looks great in both colors–the hardest thing would be deciding which color to choose! And how precious is that bun with the side part?

Source

I love the fuller skirt on this one, but I’m not sure if it comes in white or pale pink.

Source

This one’s so elegant (and I LOVE the posy), but since my dress and the bridesmaids’ dresses will be short and/or tea length, I’m not sure how long FG dresses would fit in.

I liked all of these options, but I wasn’t sure what else was out there. Then I checked out J.Crew’s Crewcuts dresses, and I was kinda blown away.

This darling “tuxedo” dress is one of my faves–but is it too casual?

Source

Unfortunately, this one doesn’t come in white or pale pink. But I absolutely adore the shape of it.

Check out the pockets on this dress! Cute and practical.

This is the only one out of the Crewcuts wedding collection that I would even consider. Overall, J.Crew’s prices on the ones that are officially “flower girl” dresses are pretty outrageous. But this one’s so special that it might be worth it.

I already bought hair ties with pale pink flowers attached for the flower girls to wear. I don’t have a picture of them, but this headband will give you an idea.

I checked out the dress with the pockets again, and it was on sale! I bought two and had them shipped to my flower girls—I haven’t seen pictures yet, but my cousin tells me the dresses are a perfect pale dusty pink.

What was your criteria for the perfect flower girl ensemble?

I LOVE the J crew crewcuts dresses. I want to get one but they are so expensive! One of my criteria for the ensemble was that it not cost much - although we’d probably be able to resell it, this is one dress that most likely would not get worn again. I love your choice! It is smart to use pink - there are so many options.

So cute! We decided to go sans fg and rb, because we don’t know any children of appropriate ages. But all these cute dresses make me wish I had one!

We’re not having a flower girl or ringbearer, but if I had to choose one of those dresses, I’d go with the very first one. =) If I could get that in a size big enough for me, I would so wear it as my wedding dress! I just LOVE it.

You mentioned that you were having more than one flower girl…if so, then why choose white or pink for the dress? Have half in pink and half in white! (If you’re having an odd number, I’d go with having the extra girl in white because they’ll all be wearing pink hair flowers).

We’re having 6 and a 3 year old sisters be flower girls - they are my MOH daughters. Our wedding is in October, so my plan is to hit the department stores once fall stuff comes out and get a nice fall dress there.

Miss Mouse,
I really like that first US Angels one as well! Saw it at a local store and it’s a really good quality. =)
I’m on the fence of whether I want “party” dress or simple day to day dress. But definitely NO itchy froo froo tulle netting dress!

@Jenniphyr: They are sisters and very close to the same age, so I would like for them to be wearing the same thing. Also, if I go with pink, I don’t have to worry about the white matching my dress. :)@EngineerBride: That’s a great idea! I thought about doing this right after Easter, but I didn’t know their dress sizes at that point.

holy cow why is jcrew so expensive??!!! I can’t imagine anyone paying $168 - 228 for a flower girl dress. The mom of my flower girl is complaining because I am asking her to spend $50. Who would spend over $200 for a toddler? That’s just crazy to me! I thought Jcrew’s bridesmaid dresses were always way too expensive for how much they just look like a normal dress, now that I see their flower girl prices I just think they are insane.

cute dresses but totally not worth that much money!

@Andrea: Actually, the ones I bought ended up being $39 each on sale. The trick is to look at the dresses that aren’t specifically for weddings. They’re easily half to a third of the price!

Wow, I was looking for the same thing! I was all set on that first Us Angels dress, but then I saw it in a magazine article’s photo and I hated how it looked on the little model. The arms were all loose and hanging, not puffy.

The second Us Angels dress you posted comes in a peach color, but it looks very pink IRL.

I also liked the J.Crew dresses but they were more than our BM dresses! Glad you were able to find a good deal. Can’t wait to see pics!

this is where i purchased my fg and jr bm dresses….VERY reasonable, available in variety of colors and sizes, definitely wearable again. instead of getting gifts for the little girls, i purchased their wedding day attire. makes it a little easier on their mother…

oh…the dresses are very nice quality and are true to size! im extremely happy with my purchase.

I love the first, second one, and the one with pockets. Your flower girls can even use the one that you chose even after the wedding.

My five-year-old flowergirl wore the first one (Us Angels) in diamond white for my 7/4/09 wedding on the beach and she looked SOOO adorable! I highly recommend the dress (we ordered it online from Nordstrom)…it is well-made and darling! :)
