While the more masculine half of our group was knocking off in the grill, the girls had some serious business to get down to. We filled the boardroom at the Club to capacity and as I looked around, I realized how incredibly blessed I was to be surrounded by my favorite ladies in the whole world. My mother, sister, bridesmaids, flower girls, and aunts were all there, as well as our florist, the lovely Jenna, the female contingent of our awesome photography team, Karen, and our amazing DOC+, Becky. It was a full house that afternoon, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
We began by unpacking and laying out all of our accessories.

We hung Jackie on the wall and added my shoes to the shutters.

My insanely gorgeous and fragrant peony bouquet sat on the windowsill as it awaited its big debut and every so often I took a whiff or two, inhaling the incredibly intoxicating sweet scent. I loved, loved, LOVED my bouquet!!

Slowly but surely the girls slipped into their dresses and jewels and strapped their golden heels on.

My adorable cousins (aka flower girls) climbed into their pretty frocks while Erin crowned them with their wreaths of baby’s breath and handed them their baskets, overflowing with ivory rose petals and lavender buds.

I continued to lounge around in my white Juicy “suit” alternating between cracking jokes and taking deep calming breaths. Around 5, sweet Becky prodded me to begin getting dressed. I climbed up to retrieve Jackie from her perch and everyone gatherer around.

The room went silent as I stepped into the layers of silk and tulle, beginning my transformation into a blushing bride.

As my mother zipped me up, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. “I’m a bride! I’m a bride!” I exclaimed while doing a happy dance around the room.

I was completely overjoyed at that moment and felt completely prepared to trek down the aisle right then and there. However, I was quickly reminded that I had a few more items to don before my ensemble would be complete.
My sister sat me down and we attempted to affix my Italian silk garter to my thigh.

I should have done a trial run with the garter for, try as we might, we couldn’t get the damn thing to stay up. I briefly envisioned a nightmare scenario where it slid off as my dad and I sauntered down the aisle and we all agreed that it was better to leave it behind. Since I was still sitting in my throne, the girls collected my shoes and shod my bare feet.

Last, but most certainly not least, was the veil. Oh dear lawd, how I loved that veil and couldn’t wait to get it on my head. However, none of us had any idea how to do it. After about 5 minutes of the girls flipping it back and forth and circling my head discussing logistics, we figured we’d better consult a pro for advice. “Jenna?! HELP!!!!” Thankfully we figured it out and I was finally all dressed up and ready to go.

I paused in front of the mirror to take everything in.
It was around this time that we heard a little knock at the door…
