About Mrs. Flamingo

Though we didn’t do many traditional wedding things, the garter toss and bouquet toss were a must. Not because we had too… but because it’s something I’ve always looked forward to at my own wedding.

Plus, with the unique garter I made my new husband…. I had to have him go fish. ;)

Glamnuptials: 3, 2, 1 and Catch : wedding pictures pro pics recap reception Flump 102 So, I stood on a speaker, turned around to look at the DJ, and with a simple nod of the head, he knew it was time to cue the Superman Theme. Yup, that’s seriously what we played.

No, no, no… hands behind your back, Mr. F. Now, Now, no cheating…

Glamnuptials: 3, 2, 1 and Catch : wedding pictures pro pics recap reception Flump 103 I have never seen someone smile as much as Mr. Flamingo did when he discovered the hidden treasure… a Superman garter; HIS Superman garter. At that same moment, I saw a confused look on his face.

“Am I really throwing this one?” He looked at me, and seemed almost heartbroken.

“No, no… I have a toss garter. That one you get to keep to add to your Superman collection.”

And the big smile reappeared quickly on his face.

Glamnuptials: 3, 2, 1 and Catch : wedding pictures pro pics recap reception Flump 104 Catch…

Glamnuptials: 3, 2, 1 and Catch : wedding pictures pro pics recap reception 2634254 Next it was the girls’ turn, and my, oh my, were they ever anxious. When the DJ announced that he wanted all the single ladies to come to the dance floor, I felt as though I was at a concert or something… the girls were pushing and shoving. :) Geez, ladies, it’s only a bouquet! ;)

Glamnuptials: 3, 2, 1 and Catch : wedding pictures pro pics recap reception Flump 701

The DJ asked all the girls to turn around, so they wouldn’t see where I was throwing the bouquet. I, too had my back to them, so there was no way I was cheating on this one. I was really anxious to see who would catch the bouquets (yup, I had 5 mini bouquets). The DJ told me, “I’ll count down to 1… and then you throw.” Those sounded like some easy instructions, but believe it or not, I couldn’t wait, and threw them when he said, “Three.” I guess I’m not good at counting down. ;)

Glamnuptials: 3, 2, 1 and Catch : wedding pictures pro pics recap reception 2607524 I was really happy two of my good friends caught the bouquets… They seriously paraded around with the mini-bouquets and showed them off to everyone. It’s only a bogus tradition, yet, I can’t help but wonder if the next wedding I will be going to will be one of theirs.

Will you be doing a garter and bouquet toss? Is there a tradition that you absolutely want to participate in at your wedding?

We’re not doing either. IMO the garter toss is not appropriate in this setting and we don’t have many singles of either sex coming. I’m not going to miss it.

I caught the bouquet at my FBIL’s wedding and 8 months later I got engaged! I bet one of your girl’s will be getting hitched too!

I would love to the mini bouquets for my reception—but if I recall there will be one single gal there. ONE! So probably won’t be doing this to save the embarassment of the one gal.

First of all, Miss Flamingo, you look gorgeous and So happy!

I’d love to do a bouquet toss but I don’t want to do the garter thing (FI and I feel awk about it with some older relatives)- do you guys think you can do one but not the other?

I had a blast and was so anxious to see Mr.F face when he saw the garter.

I have to admit I love the bouquet toss and am sad that I can’t participate anymore. :(

This is too cute! One of our groomsmen is being introduced to the Superman theme (and he’ll be doing bodybuilding poses when he comes out). I’m playing the Georgia fight song when Mr. Lab pulls off my GA garter (it’s a surprise for him!).

I LOVE the mini bouquet idea. I’m the first of my friends to get married, and we’ll have about 25 single ladies. I might need to go the route of multiples! Thanks for the great idea.

We probably won’t do either. =) I have nothing against them, but we won’t have many singles at our wedding, I won’t have a bouquet, and probably won’t have a garter, either. =D

^.^ That’s so cute that you had a Superman garter just for him.
