About Mrs. Mascara

May I Present to You…

July 13th, 2009 @ 4:09 pm by Mrs. Mascara

Our invitations!

As all DIY invites are to the brides that spend hours slaving over them, these were truly a labor of love. I designed them, cut them out, rounded the corners, attached the ribbon, made the belly bands, cut out envelope liners, attached envelope liners, stuffed and embossed the pocketfolds, stuffed the envelopes, sealed and stamped all 215 of them with the help of Mr. M, our families, and a dear friend. The only things we outsourced were the pocketfolds and printing. A family friend even did the calligraphy on the outside for us.

Despite all the hard work that went into them, I wouldn’t have done it any other way. We could never have afforded invitations like these without making them ourselves. I’m very happy with how they turned out, and from the feedback I’ve been getting, our guests like them, too!

Did you DIY your invites? Were you happy with how they turned out?

Those are incredible. I gave up on DIY invites and ordered from wedding paper divas. Stuffing the envelopes for mine took HOURS and I wanted to inflict bodily harm on anyone who was near me (poor MrKV and our Dog Brutus) so I give you huge HUGE props for doing this!

Thanks for all the sweet comments! I’m glad you like them!
@Miss Gloss: That made me naseous. Let’s not do anymore math like that. @Miss Bear Cub: It does! You can send an invite to the Prez and he’ll send you a nice note or something like that. Plus I needed an envelope I wouldn’t have to blur information on :)
@Miss Calculator: A close-up will be coming soon!
@Cheers826, @kosstobe, @An Huynh: I got them printed in the UP. I’m not going to share the vendor because I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone! Let’s just say we had some issues. Sorry!
@kosstobe: I will probably do a cost breakdown once I add it all up!

@ladybuglove: I haven’t added up the costs yet but I will post about it when I do!
@LatteLove: It feels SO good! :) ahhhhh
@Champagne Wishes: Good question. The short answer is a LONG time. I can figure out a long answer for this though if I sit down and think about it!
@Soon2BeeMrsLewis: It’s a postcard. With 215 of them, we were trying to save on postage (and weight of the whole suite). I’ll post a close-up next!

I’m a little diy challenged. Is the damask print on the invite stamped or printed? What site are they from? Are those embrossed? How did you make the envelope liners? Are they just printed on regular paper or special paper?
Great job, they look awesome.
