Wedding Crashers, Anyone?

July 13th, 2009 @ 11:25 am by Mrs. Cowboy Boot

Two nights before the wedding (a Friday), we expect our bridal party and a few other people will be roaming around Devil’s Thumb Ranch and the surrounding areas looking for something to do. Our rehearsal dinner won’t be going on until the following night, and since it’s a destination wedding, we’re pretty sure quite a few of our guests will already be in town, making a vacation of it! So, we figure we should provide a little wedding-related entertainment.

Enter: Wedding Crashers. Yes, the movie. I mean, who doesn’t looooove Rachel McAdams? One of the unique things about our venue is that it has a 37-person movie theater, so we’re taking full advantage.

We’re renting it out, supplying popcorn, sodas, and candy, and making sure Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson’s fabulous antics are displayed across the big screen for all to see.

Sure, this movie’s not serious and it doesn’t contemplate the ups and downs of marriage, but we’re hoping to put our guests in a silly, laid back mood for the wedding weekend. We want them to have some fun (and we want to have some fun, too!).

A few other never-fail, nuptial movies? Father of the Bride, My Best Friend’s Wedding, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, 27 Dresses, The Wedding Planner, and The Wedding Singer.

If you were going to throw a pre-wedding movie night, what film would you feature? Are there any other great wedding movies that I failed to mention above?

HAHA I think you hit ALL the movies. I LOVE FOTB since my dad was JUST like Steve Martin (and he was his fave actor) and I know that’s what it would have been like if my dad were here for the wedding. What a GREAT idea to do that for your guests, I bet you’ll all enjoy it and you’ll get some people quoting Wedding Crashers to themselves during your reception!

I love Wedding Crashers and Father of the Bride! What a great idea; your guests will have so much fun. I would definitely show When Harry Met Sally, even though it’s not a wedding flick.

The Wedding Singer! And maybe a little Princess Bride…not entirely a wedding movie, but close enough!

Lol, my fiance’s grandmother (GMIL?) is 85 years old and borrowed wedding crashers without knowing what it was about. She returned it and said, “I don’t know if I like this too much . . . there’s lots of naked ladies.”

I might be pushing the boundary of “wedding movie” but maybe The Hangover?? And I LOVE MY Big Fat Greek Wedding, we still quote that movie on a pretty regular basis in my family.
