I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. We're planning an eco-friendly, casual, English garden affair for the end of summer, and we can't wait for it to get here!

How It Feels

July 14th, 2009 @ 6:16 pm by Mrs. Mouse

With under 100 days until our wedding, things are starting to feel real for the first time. And finally, the 1001 little ideas I’ve sprouted over the past year-and-a-half are forming themselves into a somewhat cohesive vision of the big day. I’m not much for “themes” (unless we’re talking a Saved by the Bell party at which I was the only one to dress up), but I guess you could call our wedding theme “Rustic English Garden at Night”. Does that even make sense? Can I throw the word “vintage” around, too? Here are a few inspiration boards (via Snippet & Ink, of course) that I believe capture the feel of our wedding.

How It Feels : wedding color schemes Board How It Feels : wedding color schemes Inspira02 I’m especially loving the short-dress inspiration in this last one!

The closest thing we have to “colors” are pale, pale pink and cream, which will be brought in through the floral centerpieces and the bouquets. However, our palette will also include black accents—the bridesmaids’ dresses and black ribbon accents throughout. And what’s an English garden party without a little green? We’ll bring the green in in a natural and subtle way with antique hydrangea and other greenery in the floral arrangements. Finally, the Dude’s wearing a gray suit, and the dusty miller in the bouquets should tie in with that nicely.

I can’t tell you how many times I have tried to create a custom color palette on the web. Most of the programs I have come across are no good for subtler colors, such as pale pink and cream. I got so fed up with my lame attempts that I decided to create my own color palette with Picasa!

What do you think? I’m happy that we’ve finally figured out a way to cram all of our various “visions” into a single place.

i love your ‘theme’ & ‘colors’! I totally understand where you’re coming from, as my ‘theme’ seemed to appear out of nowhere after a few DIY projects that seemed to share similar motifs…I guess that just goes to show that everything happens for a reason =)

Oh it’s So comforting to see someone else with that range of colors on their theme. We’ve been calling it classic vintage with a romantic twist.

If you’re not set on a shoe yet, maybe something like this: http://www.shiekhshoes.com/store/p-9091-shiekh-peel-s.aspx could work into your theme nicely? I can’t vouch for the site, as my order is still pending, but I saw your shade of green and thought of those.

I’m thinking we have very similar themes with just different colors. I’m always loving the inspirations photos/boards you post and realize that it has a lot of the same “feel” that I’m going for for my own wedding. So yeah, you know I love it! ;)

I love the palette! I noticed anemones in one board, which have black centers and would be a great flower to work in.
