Mrs. Candy Corn, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 24, Senior Editor/Writer & Freelance Illustrator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Inventory Manager for a Music Publisher Engagement Date: September 1, 2004 Wedding Date: October, 2008 Blogging Since: May 6, 2008 Venue: Pennsylvania Museum of Archaelogy and Anthropology About Me: I enjoy people watching (especially in New Jersey malls), obsessive collecting, drooling over contemporary art, browsing flea markets for vintage finds and eating an absurd amount of cheese. In my Philadelphia abode, I create mixed media artwork and one-of-a-kind home accessories in the company of my farmer-tanned husband, our Westiepoo (Betty White), our three rabbits (Cadbury, Willie Nelson and Applesauce) and our two frisky chinchillas (Ethel Funk and Maude).
About candycorn

Guests were enjoying drinks and hors d’oeuvres during the cocktail hour, while the rest of us were taking formal shots outside in the Upper Garden. I was grinning from ear to ear while standing next to my husband (!!!!), so saying “cheese” wasn’t going to be a problem for me. While posed shots really aren’t our style, we wanted to have standard portraits that our parents and grandparents could frame or show their friends.

I remember not wanting to let go of Mr. Candy Corn’s hand. I hadn’t seen him the entire day leading up to the ceremony and it felt like eons not having him there to share the excitement.

Phew, everyone was looking at the camera and being chipper (how cute is our super smiley groomsman in the very back?). Scratch that pose off our list.

Notice how Mr. Candy Corn’s 12-year-old brother is the same height as me. Yeah, I’m a shorty. My kitten heels were digging into the grass and I felt myself sinking and trying not to stumble over.

I adored seeing the look of the bridal party come together, especially with the guys wearing their matching Converse shoes. I have to admit, I was disappointed because the suits weren’t the size we ordered, nor were they Calvin Klein like we had paid for, but another knock off brand that was cheaply made (including fake ties on elastic!). Despite the mishaps, we didn’t let it ruin our day.

Sister-in-Law Candy Corn, Mr. Candy Corn, me and my brother smile behind my Grandma and parents.

Mr. Candy Corn and me standing with his stepmother and father behind Mr. Candy Corn’s younger half brothers and stepsister.

Mommy French (who came all the way from…you guessed it, France!), Mr. Candy Corn, me and Mr. Candy Corn’s half brother behind their adorable mom and stepfather.

The proud mama with her two boys.

It was difficult to stare straight ahead because I could see and hear friends of ours pouring out of the balcony above during the cocktail hour. I just wanted to sprint and hug them all like crazy, but I behaved and stood still… as much as a spazzy gal like me can stand still.

I couldn’t have been happier to have such a supportive team behind me that I could call my family. They were always incredibly supportive of our relationship (despite my dad being an overprotective, retired cop) and never doubted our decision to get married at 24.

I’m honored to be a part of their family now and to have gained three brothers, a sister, two sets of parents, and a sassy grandma from France. Mr. Candy Corn’s youngest brother was snacking on the candy corn we had at the bar and he had an entire handful while these photos were being taken. I was very tempted to snag some to use as fangs in a photo, but I didn’t want to scare the new family away just yet.

I love this photo because it captures exactly how we were feeling that day. We were both in our own little excited universe and just so happy that others wanted to join us.

Let’s face it: you knew I had to throw an ugly one in there for you. This is one of the shots where I was goofing around and trying to shake away all of the seriousness of formal photos. I don’t think anyone else realized I was making a face, but then again, they’re all pretty used to my antics by now so I’m sure they just shrugged it off.

Those are too sweet! Your recaps always crack me up-witty woman! But I’m (too easily) confused (or perhaps I missed something); who is Mommy French?

@Mrs. Perfume: hahah thank you! Mommy French is Mr. Candy Corn’s Grandma from France (Mr. CC’s stepfather is from France, so it’s his mother). Confusing, huh?

These are so so cute! I love seeing brides with short hair, so many grow their hair out for the big day. I have short hair, too, and don’t plan on growing it out for my wedding.
Love the candy corn lovefest!! :)

i love that you can tell you are a little antsy in the ‘formal’ pictures and that you can let it out when you need to. They turned out cute though!

Adorable! Adorable! Adorable!

Can I ask where you got the suits that got all messed up (you refered to wrong sizes/brand & funny ties)? Since we are “neighbor” brides I am hoping that it’s not the same place and I just haven’t found out that they’re a mess yet!

@ktdid:
We got them down the street from us (ahem…Carlino Flowers & Tuxedos) because we were told they rented the cadbury Calvin Klein suits that we loved. We reserved the suits like 7 months in advance and then a week before the wedding were told that they gave our suits to another party because it was so popular, and then just stuck us with these oversized knockoffs that had the label torn out to try to trick us (yeah, that worked). I’m sure you’re safe! :)

Your photos turned out great! I love how happy you look in them! I really think that your sunny personality shows through in the photos. Btw, my mom almost bought the dress that Mr. CC’s mom is wearing.

Thanks for the info on the suit rentals, Mrs. Candy Corn. Luckily, we are safe (fingers crossed) as we are going with a place a little more in the ‘burbs!

The guys suits look great in the pictures but it’s so frustrating when the “professionals” you trust to do things right, totally don’t seem to care. Knowing you and your great personality I’m sure you fretted for a minute or two and then got past it…….
