Ties and Socks

July 16th, 2009 @ 12:44 pm by Mrs. Piglet

I am over the moon with excitement that we are finally done with the Piglet men’s attire! We nixed khaki suits as an option months ago, and decided on gray for both Mr Piglet and his fellas. With the ladies in yellow, the groomsmen will be donning yellow ties with cute little palm trees (in blue!). I know, I know… it’s spot on for our tropical wedding!

Are we fans of the sock shots? You bet your ass we are!

But finding bold, yellow socks was proving to be a challenge. Thankfully, Mkatt88 posted her sock find in the Weddingbee gallery! She found hers at Macy’s, so while the Mr was basking in the sweltering Phoenix heat for his bachelor party last weekend, I hit up every single Macy’s in a 30-mile radius.

Between two stores, I found enough for all of the groomsmen. Could it get any better?!

Why yes… yes it can! A brighter, neon-colored pair was sitting next to the others all by his lonesome self. He stood out, as will the Mr amongst his groomsmen.

Finding a Tiffany blue tie was even more challenging. There were no stores that carried ties in that color. So… he ordered his online.

During my sock shopping excursion, I moseyed on in to Cafe Coton in Century City. I had never seen such a bright selection of ties. They actually had quite a few ties that came close to Tiffany blue… this one being the closest.

And now the Mr must make a decision: polka dots or stripes? It would probably help to see it against the suit, but unfortunately, it’s undergoing alterations as we speak. The striped tie is closer to Tiffany blue, and for some reason, I just like it more. When he paired it with the suit, I thought it had more personality. But I’m happy with either one.

Which tie do you fancy?

Stripes — because they’re really different from the small pattern of the groomsmen’s ties!

Can you do them both? The ties and socks have been really hard for us.

I like the polka dot tie a little more. I think the dots are a little more subtle and go with the argyle of the socks more. Great finds! I wish I could have convinced my husband to wear cool socks! I mentioned it once and he thought I was crazy! He’s got a good sense of style, but it’s a little on the conservative side.

I like the stripes because they are different, but also more along the preppy vibe like the palm trees!

I forgot to say which tie I like better. I love them both but I think the striped one is my favorite!

I’m a striped tie girl, and that’s what our guys are wearing.

Perhaps I’m a bit biased (perhaps!), but I love the polka dots.

@MrsSl82be: Macy’s had the largest selection to choose from… but only certain stores. Only 2 of the 5 I visited had the argyle socks. Good luck!!!

@mkat88: YOU were my inspiration. :)

@legalbee: Woops, I forgot to mention the ties are from Brooks Brothers. They were dirt cheap at the outlet. We purchased five for 50 something dollars… I think. :p

Love them - FH is actually sporting a brown tux so I am letting him have fun with those crazy british pocketsquares, ties and socks he likes so long as they are in a blue or crean tone ( our colors are blue and brown) His mother was like No!!!!!!!! dont let him do it - but I figured I am putting the poor man in a tux for an outside ceremony in his least favorite color - I have to let his personality shine somehow! LOL!

First, very very cute! I think the stripes work well with tying in the preppiness that is going on…the socks are AWESOME too!
