A Flower is Blooming

Hair flowers - they are everywhere! I rarely see a wedding today where the bride’s not wearing one. Well, let me say that my mom wore flowers in her hair, and I had been intending to do so as an homage to her. I actually never told her that (Hi Momma Sunbeam!), so I feel a little bummed that everyone and their flower girl has a flower in their hair now. On the flip-side, that also means choices! Everyone’s making them and some artisans have it down to perfection. With my dress in mind, I went searching for the perfect hair flower.

Here are three of my favorite Etsy sellers, all of which I contacted. All of their sites seemed to say they would take forever to respond because they are so busy, but I actually got responses from all three without too long of a wait! I may have been sort of persistent with one of them, but you gotta do what you gotta do right!? Do you know which one I picked??

Cultivar

It’s so vintage-y and full. I loved the laciness of her creations and the ruffled edges.

Twigs & Honey

Again, so beautiful. It’s a different take than the first, and I love that her flowers are fuller than most, with fabrics that are various shades and transparencies cut to a petal-like shape.

This seller does a lot of nice things with feathers! Flowers, with a bit of drama. It would fit right in with this boutonniere idea from Martha Stewart Weddings

Father Sunbeam could put his fly-tying skills to work!

So which one did I pick??

Da da daaaaaa…

I went with Twigs & Honey (#2)! I liked her style the most, and she’s going to be mixing some lace petals in there for me as well, to go with the lace in my dress! I love how these sellers will work with you to make a pieces that is all your own. It should be ready any day now! I’ll post pictures as soon as it arrives, for sure!

Are you a hair flower girl? Do you love how “in” they are right now or did you forgo getting one because they are so popular?

I am succumbing to the trend but only because it’s just so fabulous! I am opting for two slightly smaller flowers to be placed to one side of my pinned up curls. A friend of mine got her hair flower from Twigs and Honey and just loved it so you made an excellent choice!

I always wanted a (real) hair flower, and am also kinda bummed its so trendy. I’m planning on going with a very realistic looking gardenia pin - no feathers or lace for me!

I love how even though it seems like every bride is wearing them, sellers are working with you to create a style that is your own. Your pick is adorable!

I love #2, it’s going to look so pretty! I’m thinking of wearing one, I just have to pick a dress first.

I love the first one!

I’m glad flowers became the hot new wedding thing, because I wouldn’t have thought to wear one otherwise and I loved changing my looks from a chapel length veil for the ceremony to a simple cute flower for the reception!

I got my headband with silk flower made from etsy sellers Untamed Petals. I actually don’t care that it’s trendy right now, because it’s what I was looking for. I’m not a veil girl, and I LOVE the way I look in my headband!

You made a beautiful choice. I will be going with multiple small (1 centimeter) flowers on hair pins. I got them from Etsy seller Tamar (http://www.etsy.com/profile.php?user_id=5001630)

I love the look of hair flowers. I debating getting one, but my sister talked me out of it, because she thought it would be too trendy. I actually kind of wish I had done it, though, because they’re so pretty.

I love the flower. I am not doing a veil so the flower is my bit of flair. I made mine from my great grandmother’s jewelry. :)

I love the hair flower sensation that is going on! I am getting one for myself (from Lori London or an Etsy seller) and I just got in the beautiful hair flowers I bought for my bridesmaids as gifts. They are handmade and seriously cute. Check them out on my blog:

I just got them in today and I couldn’t resist from blogging about them. I think I’m in love!

I love flowers. I didn’t wear a veil, so I decided to wear a lovely flower, and I got mine from Chelsea of ohmydeer! Number 2 with lace would be gorgeous. Can’t wait to see the finished product.

I’m wearing a hair flower/fascinator as well. I don’t mind that they’re so popular because there are so many different takes on the hair flower. You can probably find one that fits your personality no matter what it is! Also, I think they’re just so classic. They might be one of those things that keeps coming back into style.

Just gorgeous! I think all of them were winners…but the one you chose is beautiful! I can’t wait to see what it looks like in your hair! I am planning on a hair flower myself…I have shorter hair, and a veil (at least, right now) looks kind of strange. Even though they are trendy right now, years down the road people won’t look at your pictures and think “well, she wore a flower in her hair, that is so dated.” It is fun, yet flowers are timeless and classy looking!
