Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.

Color Madness

July 17th, 2009 @ 11:03 am by Mrs. Poodle

This is the color palette I put together to show how cute our colors look together. I mentioned that purple is my favorite color, and green is Mr. Poodle’s favorite.

Color Madness : wedding color schemes Los Col

I don’t know if it’s normal, but I keep imagining that everything that I see is purple and green, but yeah, I’m kind of weird.

So here are the COLORS and random cool ideas I’ve seen and liked.

Color Madness : wedding color schemes Colormo The Knot

So far, this is definitely the closest to my ideal centerpiece… I just fell in love with these paper flowers. The original pictures were red (left) and yellow (right) but I had to try and Photoshop them to match our colors! smile

Color Madness : wedding color schemes Floresm I finally found the tutorial for these paper flowers, here.

I also love cherry blossom flowers; they just look so cute! But of course, in purple. So, I got 80% recycled purple paper, already cut them into 8cm squares, and the plan is to make 350 of these with the help of the girls here in Chile.

Color Madness : wedding color schemes Floresc This is the DIY tutorial we’re using!

Now when it comes to the green, I love fruit accents!

Color Madness : wedding color schemes Frutasf The Knot

Another cool thing are these lamps, me encantan smile !! But I have serious doubts, and I’m planning on trying some other options using recycled paper for them.

Color Madness : wedding color schemes Luces OnceWed

Color Madness : wedding color schemes Framegu
This is a cool frame, but what I like most are the apples in the arrangements! GO GREEN! smile

Since you’ve picked your wedding colors, do you dream of everything you see in your colors? Are your wedding colors showing up all over your clothes, or in your house?

Love your ideas! I haven’t picked my colors yet, but my sister said she found herself loving everything in the colors she had chosen for her wedding. I think it’s just a natural thing that happens. You love the colors so much you just gravitate towards them.

Yes! I’m an Orange and Green bride. I have had a HORRIBLE time finding arrangements in my colors but never thought of using photoshop, duh. What a great idea!

very close to my colors we are doing vintage grape purple with celedon as the green. I love the colors together I am also throwing in silver for the accents to give it a more polished and sophsticated look. Actually have thought about the GM wearing grey suites with the dark purple ties.. anyone for suggestions?

Love the colors! Miss TTO from 1 $10,000 wedding used the same concept, I believe. Here’s a post on her purple flowers:

Good luck!!

1 $10,000 wedding = a $10,000 wedding. I should learn to proofread.

Ha, great post! I completely understand.
I have started to see everything in my colors of yellow and blue. I woke up the other morning still hazy from sleep with the vision of yellow flowers and centerpieces in my head.

@Miss Snappy Turtle: I’m also an orange and green bride (with some pops of deep purple as an accent). I keep seeing my colors *everywhere* in gardens around New England this summer. Lots of people have tiger lilies in bloom right now, lots of green foliage, and some purple flowers as well. I guess this is a good thing b/c our wedding will be a summer garden wedding in new england :-)

What a coincidence! Everything I see is green & purple, too! I mean everything. And I hadn’t really thought about this until your post, but I’ve been wearing green pretty much constantly lately. LOL. The shades you & Mr Poodle are leaning toward are a bit more vibrant than the ones Mr Mojito and I are using, but I am definitely drawn to your inspiration ideas.

Our colors (chocolate and chartreuse) stare up at us every day from the rug covering our living room floor. When I originally chose the colors I didn’t even make the connection at first. That’s just how much they are a part of my life. :)

Pretty purple. Your palettes are well put together. Purple used to be my favorite, now I’m all about red.

Eh not really… but thats because it took me a while to even admit that I should have colors. For the first few weeks I thought that I could just get away with whatever happens, happens but realized that I need some foundation. That being said, my colors are more of a “jumping” off point but Im definitely not going and gathering every cornflower blue, champagne and chocolate colored thing in hopes that I can use it for something at the wedding!

We picked our colours based on the colour bra that I wanted to wear under my dress (orange) and a pair of underpants (blue). So I guess we did draw our colours from everyday life… :)

I’ve got the exact same colors with silver accents. When I started planning a year ago a lot of people looked at me like I was crazy and it was hard to find inspiration photos. Now it is everywhere. I can’t wait to see what you come up with.
@lynchl- I think the grey suits with the ties would look awesome. I really wanted to do that with the FI but he is a stodgy ole fellow =) and he wanted a tux (from the man who up until a week ago was jogging wearing black dress socks, I probably should have over ruled him =)

ooohhh..love everything! i might attempt these myself:-) our venue has 2 floors. we are holding the cocktail hour (and a half:-) and dancing on one floor and dinner on another floor. since we only plan to spend 11/2-2 hours in the dining area, we don’t want to spend too much $ decorating it, but we still want it to look nice. i’ve thought of doing small vases with a single thai orchid (1 per couple). i may be able to incorporate your flower tree to make things look more substantial without spending too much. can’t wait to read more.
