Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

Here Comes the DRESS!

July 17th, 2009 @ 3:45 pm by Mrs. Poodle

So, as some of you know, I’m designing and making my own wedding dress, but the sewing part is not as bad as having to choose from over a million dress shapes!
After tons of research that I shared here, I decided to get some inspiration from well-known wedding designers and narrowed them down to 3 dresses. I actually started constructing the dress last month, and now I have the bottom part completely done, and I’m working on the top! Pictures to come soon!

Now, because our venue (Mr. Poodle’s grandparents’ ranch) is really dusty, I decided to go with a simple plain puffy tulle bottom, so that way the fabric wont catch as much dust.

But the top is not going to be like the picture you’re about to see. Don’t worry, I’ll have the “girls” well covered! Here Comes the DRESS! : wedding wedding dress Wink01 wink01

This is one of the signature dresses by my favorite designer, Monique Lhuillier: Swan Lake.

Here Comes the DRESS! : wedding wedding dress Elvesti02 This dress gives you another idea of the look.

As for the hair inspirations, I’d like big waves and a flower on the side. This sounds so much like my dream hairstyle! smile02

I’m not really a “pearls” kind of girl. Actually, I don’t have anything with pearls on them, but I feel so tempted to go with pearls when I see these kinds of pictures!!

I also wanted colored shoes, and I can’t help but jump on the “colored shoe bandwagon”. I wasn’t sure about which color; I’ll either go with green or purple. (My feet want to wear purple - but I feel bad I’m leaving Mr. Poodle’s color behind! smile02 )

Once you chose your dress, was it easy or hard for you to choose the accessories to go with it? Did your dress call for a specific type of accessories, or were the options seemingly limitless?

When I read about you wanting pearls, I laughed because of Miss Bru’s earlier post!

My dress had small crystals on the top so it went well with my jewelry set….swarovski crystals. The hairstyles are lovely!

Hey - if your feet want purple, give them purple! :) Make your sash or garter green so as not to leave his favorite behind. :) (Or maybe purple with a green toebuckle?)

Just because I’m totally curious, did you draft you pattern yourself, and are you giving us a rough how to? Pretty please! I’m currently in the process of making myself a petticoat for mine seeing as my navy shoes seem to be too hard to find.

EEEE. I am so excited to see this dress of yours!! I’d definitely go for the pop of bright shoes!

I did feel like the possibilities for accessories were limitless, so in order to not feel overwhelmed, I sketched out the neckline of my dress and played around with different types of necklaces - once I “designed” it in my head, I used alchemy on Etsy & found the perfect designer to make it!

I am partial to green, but I would say that if you find the shoe that you love, just go with it, regardless of if it is purple or green!

Oooh also just had another epiphany - have you seen the design your own shoe from Nina? http://ninashoes.com/dyo.aspx You can pick from 3 different shoe styles and from varying heel heights, and then you are able to pick what color the shoes are…the main body of the shoe, the heel, and the bow/toe/etc can all have different colors selected! Perhaps you could do purple AND green!!!!

Ooh I’m loving those pearls and the green shoes. I’m not much of a pearl girl either, but every time I see them I want them!

Ohhh bollocks…I was afraid of that…otherwise it would have been just perfect! I was toying with the idea of doing green and ivory combo myself…but then I found my fabulous yellow snakeskin lovelies and I was hooked!
