About Mrs. Mouse

Worth the Wait

July 17th, 2009 @ 4:43 pm by Mrs. Mouse

After four months of waiting, my handmade wedding dress finally arrived yesterday! It was just what I needed to brighten my mood and indulge my overstimulated brain after a marathon bar study session.

I haven’t told you guys who my dress designer is yet because I wanted to keep it a secret–it’s Sarah Seven! Miss Cowboy Boot blogged about her gorgeous fairy-esque bridesmaids’ dresses back in April. Well, news flash: she also has a gorgeous line of handmade wedding gowns, and they’re ultra-affordable!

Although she typically does custom orders, at the moment Sarah’s Etsy shop is fairly limited due to her immense popularity (because she is awesome, duh!). But she does have a few bridal listings up.

I want to share with you guys the “Pink Petals” dress that I had custom made in white. Please excuse the background clutter (this is the room where all of the wedding project stuff gets relegated to). Oh yeah–and please forgive the lack of a photographer. I gotta keep this one thing a secret from the Dude!

Worth the Wait : wedding wedding dress Dscn017 I have to admit, I was a bit worried that the short length wouldn’t look “bridal” enough. But after trying it on and playing in it for a bit, my fears were assuaged. The drapery of the fabric and the floaty silk itself made me feel exactly like I want to feel on my wedding day. And it also just feels like me. :)

Worth the Wait : wedding wedding dress Dscn015 The dress has a built-in corset bra top, made from a recycled bustier! Here’s a close-up shot, so you can somewhat see the thin pearl belt that came with the dress.

Worth the Wait : wedding wedding dress Dscn016 I am so happy with the dress! It fits perfectly, though it is a tad big in the bust. Sarah is either going to send me some “tiny bra pads” or I am going to find some on my own to fill out the top a bit.

I tried the dress on with my Seychelle’s, but my camera’s battery died before I got any photos. I love the dress even more with the shoes! However, I do have a bit of a shoe dilemma that I will share with all of you in an upcoming post. (If you can call having two pairs of shoes that you absolutely love a dilemma, that is.)

I love this dress so much that I am already plotting how to make it re-wearable after the wedding’s over. There’s been a lot of buzz lately about how Sherry from This Young House dyed her wedding dress a purple-y metallic color after her wedding. It worked out great for her, but she admits that she took a huge risk. I’ll have to sit on that one for a bit.

You look amazing! That dress is wonderful for your body type. I can’t wait to see it with the whole package (veil, shoes, makeup).
