About Mrs. Star

So I figured after reading about our engagement, you might like to get a peek at my beautiful ring!

Mr. Star and I had looked at some ring pictures online and talked about what I did and didn’t like in an engagement ring. I kept hinting at the fact that the setting was really more important to me than the size and heft of the center stone itself. Much as I love me some bling, I knew we were on a budget (hello, we were still living in dorm rooms!) and I was much more excited to get a gorgeous setting that really reflected who I was, as opposed to spending all of what we had budgeted on getting an enormous rock.

I really didn’t have a clear idea of exactly what I wanted, though, so Mr. Star was left to search on his own. He went to about half a dozen jewelry stores before walking into one and immediately seeing my ring. He knew it was perfect for me the second he saw it, and boy, was he right! He must know me really well :)

I absolutely love my ring. It’s so delicate and vintage-esque and interesting to look at. Its unique shape really made it difficult to find a wedding band that looked good with it, so before I talk about our bands, I knew I had to show you the e-ring! Thanks for the help, Anne Ruthmann!

I am one bride who cannot live without her coffee!

What was most important in an e-ring to you? Was it the size of the center stone, the setting, the kinds of stones, or something else?

The most important thing was a beautiful, unique setting. But, a nice sized rock never hurts either. ;)

Most important element to me was that it was simple and modern. I wanted a solitaire diamond and a mid-weight in thickness band and I got just that. He couldn’t have done a better job.

Love your ring shots by the food…so something I would do!

Wow, so unique! A square-shaped center stone was the element I was most interested in for my engagement ring. :-)

Setting was número UNO for me too. I felt like that reflected my personality and taste more so than a big solitaire. It’s unique and that’s the best part. Not that I don’t love a huge stone :)

Your ring is GORGEOUS! I love your unique setting :)
For me the most important thing was that my ring was something I would want to wear for the rest of my life. I wanted a classic setting and a round diamond b/c I knew that would never get old to me. Mr Frenchie did a FABULOUS job and he also stuck to his top priority, which was getting me a nice clear (as possible) diamond. He went a little smaller than we originally wanted to ensure the quality of the diamond was good :)

I told FH round brilliant stone with diamonds on the band, which is exactly what he got and I lOVE it! I love yours, Miss Star!

I love your setting! When we were ring hunting, I told my guy I wanted something simple and that I would much rather a smaller diamond with excellent quality than a bigger stone that’s not so sparkly. And he hit the jackpot! I’ve got a ring that unique, simple, and super sparkly!

I wanted a ring with a vintage look to it, and that’s what I found, at the second store we went to. I’ve been engaged almost a year and I still look at it every day. I knew as soon as it was on my finger that it was the one!

I’m with you on the setting. And it amazes me how they, on their own, find a ring that we absolutely love!

Clarification: for those who choose to find one themselves.

The setting was definitely the most important thing in my e-ring. I didn’t care very much about the center stone (in fact, I decided to go moissanite) But, I wanted a setting that reflected my style and personality. I love my ring : )

Your ring is beautiful. I love how unique it is! How special it is that he chose it for you. Looking forward to seeing what band you choose!

The most important thing to me was that FI picked something that made him think it was perfect for me. He found my ring almost immediately, but kept looking for a few weeks. He ended up going back for it and loved that it was similar but still different from other rings. I’m happy to say I’ve never seen another ring like it, and so glad he picked it out all by himself

Gasp, that is a gorgeous ring!

Most important thing to me was that my ring is vintage. I like knowing that it has a history.

Also, I never thought about it beforehand, but the fact that we picked it out together has ended up being the story we tell everyone. How we both saw it at the same moment and gasped, “that’s it!” I think it shows how well he listened to what I wanted, how we had a thoughtful discussion on how much to spend, and found a perfect ring that symbolizes how well we work together!

Wow! That is absolutely beautiful! The most important aspect of my e-ring was that it was purchased from a local business. Supporting the town that I was born and raised in, which I also happen to completely adore, with the purchase reflects my personality more than any setting or stone could. My center stone is a Montana sapphire that was mined less than an hour from our house.

@charia: Aww, Charia, that IS a sweet story! How cute that he was listening so intently!

@Lexatron: That’s awesome that your sapphire was mined from right where you’re from! I think that’s really cool.

The setting was most important for me too- I really wanted a bezel setting that wouldn’t get caught on things. I’m hard on jewelry too, so I thought that would be safest for the rock. The other thing I wanted was to know where it came from and that it was conflict free. We ended up working with a jeweler from Colorado who picked out a Montana sapphire and put it in a platinum bezel with a hammered gold band. Perfect for me!
