Bouquet Preservation

July 20th, 2009 @ 11:05 am by Mrs. Beagle

I haven’t really decided what I’ll do with the bouquets I’m making for my wedding. I’m not sure if I will display them as is, or if I will disassemble them and create something new from the remnants. While searching through wedding blogs recently, I somehow came across these gorgeous paintings that are made from pressed bouquet flowers from Curly Art:

Bouquet Preservation : wedding flowers 600x60005

Bouquet Preservation : wedding flowers 600x60006
Bouquet Preservation : wedding flowers 600x60007
Bouquet Preservation : wedding flowers 600x60008
Bouquet Preservation : wedding flowers 600x60009
If I was having a real bouquet, I would love to do this! I think it’s a great way to display your bouquet in your home after the wedding. They’re so unique and you could even customize it to match your decorating scheme. :)

What did you do (married bees) or are you doing with your bouquet after the wedding?

Wow, that is seriously awesome! I’m not too into keeping “stuff” around, so my mother just threw out my bouquet. I wish I had known about this sooner!

About 18 years ago, I took a friend’s bouquet immediately after her wedding (I was MOH) and took it to a place to have it freeze dried (the place told me how to preserve the flowers until I could get it to them, but it’s been so long, I can’t remember what I did). The place then took the flowers and put it in a shadow box with photos from her wedding & her invitation. It’s held up well (still hanging in her house). Of course I think it ended up costing more than we expected, but it’s nice–the only thing reflecting her wedding in her house now.

I’ve never had good luck drying any of my bridesmaid flowers so I just sent my bouquet in a vase to my MIL (in a care facility & unable to attend our wedding) to enjoy. I hear it lasted for almost 2 weeks :)

I saved and dried a few flowers & put them in a small shadowbox . I would have loved to press the flowers , but just didn’t think about it!!
I also did the same thing with the rose DH gave me when he proposed.

LOL- I wanted to have my bouquet dried and hang it in a shadow box with my invitation. After the wedding I gave it to my Mom, and asked her just to hang it upside down so that the flowers could dry.

She wasn’t sure what to do (???) so she put it in the fridge so that it would still be alive when I got back from my 1 week honeymoon- it was definitely still alive, but very wilted, and pretty much unsalvedgable in bouquet form. I plucked off any blossoms that still looked okay, and dried them and put them in a vase with a ton of dried roses that I had been given while my husband and I were dating.

Also- Miss Beagle, if you are having any live flowers in your wedding go to central market for a price quote- they were so inexpensive, we doubled the amount of roses we used during the reception- and the arrangements were gorgeous (I think they went home with guests). I was lucky though and didn’t have to decorate for my ceremony at all because the church had christmas decorations up!

Ummm…my bouquet was forgotten in the fridge and molded. Oh well, one less thing in my house!

Very unexpected, and lovely. I like this idea a lot better than just drying.
