Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

Flores de Arcilla

July 20th, 2009 @ 10:32 am by Mrs. Poodle

I found this really cool blog called Blossoms and I fell in love with their deco clay flowers. Check them out!

Aren’t they cute?

Well, after looking at tons of pictures of clay flowers and bouquets, I decided to immerse myself into the clay world and work on my very own bouquet. I’ve never worked with clay before, so I know it might not end up as good as those, as their crafters are “CLAY MASTERS”! But, on the other hand, I’ve pretty much taught myself every technique I know! smile03

I feel that it will mean so much to me to make my own bouquet - I wanted to make an origami one at first, but this could be another cute option.

I’m going shopping for materials tomorrow and I’ll start experimenting. Once I decide what I will be doing, I’m going to post the process and instructions.

I sound like I have a lot of faith in my future clay skills… LOL! Even though I haven’t worked with clay before, I have a good feeling about this, so cross your fingers for me!

Have you tried to learn a new skill or craft so you could incorporate it into your wedding?

Oh, please post your trail run! We plan on using an Etsy seller who does clay flower to do my hair flower and his boutineer. But I LOVE the idea of making it a DIY!

those are gorgeous….love all the purple ones:-p can’t wait to read about your first experiment into the clay world, lol. i am thinking of doing these myself, but i don’t know if i’ll have the ability…especially since my inspiration bouquet is full of exotic flowers. i may have to hire a “clay expert,” lol.

Deb of Blossoms made my bouquet and she did a great job. Very reasonable priced too… less than real flowers for me! =) So if you decide that clay is not your thing, she can definitely make your bouquets for you. Plus, she’s super nice and great to work with!

Here’s my bouquet in case you wanted to see:

I know your flowers will turn out lovely and I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of them! Are you making them while you’re in Chile and packing them when you move?

I plan on teaching myself how to gocco, and I miight make the bouquets and bouts myself.

Mrs. Pineapple and I (and several other readers) had flowers made by Diane of DK Designs ( http://dkdesignshawaii.com/ ). They were absolutely beautiful and I got all kinds of compliments!

Good luck on your crafting! I picked up clay skills so I could make our cake toppers and it worked out great.
