I couldn't live without Pantone markers, fountain soda (3/4 diet, ¼ regular Coke), run-on sentences, or ridiculously oversized sunglasses. About Mrs. Gloss

E-Pics, FINALLY!!

July 21st, 2009 @ 3:48 pm by Mrs. Gloss

Some of you super observant readers noticed my new bio picture and guessed that we FINALLY had our engagement pictures taken. You were right! I’m under strict orders from the mister that these pictures not get plastered around the internet… but I couldn’t hold out from you guys. So, I figured I could post just a few of my favorites, and deal with any consequences later.

Originally we didn’t intend to get e-shots taken. We didn’t think we would use them for anything and that it would be a waste of money. Oh, and Mr. Gloss HATES having his picture taken. One day I was mindlessly wandering through the Weddingbee Classifieds and came across a post for free engagement session in Boston with Nicole Chan. At this point, I was regretting not getting any pictures taken previously, because I wanted to use them for our guestbook, and I also thought it would be good practice to be in front of a camera. Additionally, I wanted test out how my ‘wedding-day makeup’ actually photographed. So, I dragged Mr. Gloss down to the Boston aquarium during the 4th of July weekend, thinking that everyone would have left the city for the holiday, since we typically do. I convinced him it would be empty and no one would see him getting his picture taken. Boy, was I wrong. The city was packed, since it was one of the first nice (ie not rainy) days of the whole summer!

So, Nicole and her assistant showed up, and we tried to erase the scowl off Mr. Gloss’ face. It took a little while, but eventually he warmed up. She was a pleasure to work with – neither of us are very comfortable in front of the camera, but by the end, we felt much more open and were really enjoying it (well, I was probably enjoying it more than the mister). Some of my favorite shots are definitely the outtakes with the genuine smiles, rather than posed shots, which completely confirms my decision to go with a ‘documentary style’ photographer for our wedding pictures.

So without further ado, here are a few pictures from the lovely Nicole Chan*:

*all images are captured and processed by Nicole, but I did a little additional post-processing, so don’t hold it against her!

So cute, I love them!

FI and I will definitely be taking e-pics. Our photographer is throwing them in for free, and it will be nice to have some photographs we can put up in our house and give to our close family. I’m really looking forward to our session!

Gloss, your eyes really *pop* :-)

The mister and I are both hams (me slightly more than him), so engagement pictures were a great lesson in how to be natural and genuine — I learned what I need to tone down to totally love our wedding pictures!

These are awesome. You look great (as always). I think we probably should have done e-pics just for the practice. Mr. Joey hates having his picture taken and getting him comfortable before the big day would have been smart.

Your pictures are gorgeous!!!

We got e-pics taken because we are having a destination wedding. We will actually be in Florida in September and it will be a great chance for me to have my hair and makeup trial and meet with our photographer!

Wow, they turned out great. I love your new profile pic, too. We didn’t do e-pics, and I totally regret it. We thought we were saving money and didn’t know if we’d use them for anything. However, I think it would have been great for practice AND it would be nice to have those pics of us.

So pretty, Miss Gloss! We did a very lowkey e-pic session that was really cheap but a great way for us to try out a photographer….so glad we did it. We ended up booking her for our wedding, too!

Aww they came out really cute! Our e-pics were also free (a friend of a friend is a wedding photographer who was trying to expand her portfolio) and we’re going to to take more with our own photographer. It’s not a lot extra and I really want to experience shooting with our own photographer before our wedding day.

Love them! Since we eloped we didn’t have a chance to get engagement pics taken so after the fact I figured we could still do it. I too stumbled on someone doing free shoots in the Classifieds. Joe was awesome to work with and I can’t wait! http://www.joesanphoto.com/
We just did them 2 days ago and already I want them soooooo bad!!! Yours are wonderful and I hope ours turn out that well!
