I bought the fabric for my new sash over the weekend! If you recall, my dress came with a piece of black satiny ribbon attached to it:

And that’s just not fitting with anything else in my or Mr. Mary Jane’s attire. I also wanted to lower the sash just a bit, since it’s supposed to drape around the natural waist, and as a tall girl, it currently drapes around my ribcage.
Off to Jo-Ann’s I went! I decided I wanted to find something with green in it to match my shoes.
I was really hoping for a punchy green and white pattern of some kind, but I ended up preferring this solid “Spinach” green taffeta.

It’s a pretty good match for my shoe, isn’t it! It’s not a perfect match, but it’s really damn close. When your shoes aren’t dyeable, you take what you can get. And if it shows up funny in pictures, I can color-correct it in Photoshop later. (This is my mentality about pretty much everything related to my wedding day look!)
I didn’t want a seam, so I bought two yards of this fabric. Something tells me I’m going to be using up scraps of spinach-colored taffeta for the next 10 years.
I have no pattern for this sash, but I’m pretty good at sewing simple projects. Once I get to work on it, I’ll share the results!
Are you sewing any of your wedding day accessories?
