Hello there!

Miss Sprinkle here… I am surprised, overwhelmed and excited to be picked as the latest bee to join the hive! I have been reading Weddingbee since before I was officially engaged, and to be welcomed into the hive with a few months to go until the big day is such a warm and wonderful feeling.

The choice to be Miss Sprinkle was easy! Not only do I love rain, but I love baked goods, especially vegan sweets with SPRINKLES! Sprinkles, jimmies, sparkles: whatever you want to call them, they just make life a little bit easier to swallow (I promise to go light on the ridiculous puns in future posts).

Now, on to the good stuff. Mr. Sprinkle (a musician himself) and I met in the spring of 2005 when my silly little electronic band from San Francisco went on a mini-tour in the Southwest. We happened to be booked to play the same show, and a mutual friend introduced us. I was feeling ill beyond belief, and Mr. Sprinkle brought me a slice of cake to help ease my pain (baked goods were a pivotal part of our courtship!). After a summer full of phone calls and emails, the mister flew out to Los Angeles for a visit, and we have been together ever since.

A little bit about me, list style:

• I was born and raised in the Bay Area of California. I moved to Los Angeles four years ago but I still miss the fog (sometimes) and good burritos (all the time).
• I am vegan! So is Mr. Sprinkle. We go out of our way to not consume animal products or use anything tested on animals. It just feels right to us.
• I LOVE KIDS! I am the person at the party who wants to sit at the kids table, who likes to play with the little ones all night. I really feel more comfortable around kids than adults, as it’s easier for me to be myself. This is probably why I spend my days teaching preschool.
• Books are my other true love. John Irving is my favorite author, but I do enjoy a good vampire or wizard book as well. I like to read novels over and over and until they are falling apart and water-stained from the bath.
• We have three lovely cats, all rescued from various places. Ike is huge and has beautiful blue eyes, Freddie Mercury is obsessed with me and constantly biting the edges of our laptop when I am trying to blog, and Sweet Kitten is their sweet little sister!

We got engaged last December, so we are seven months into our planning and have less than two months to go. Our tiny Los Angeles Spanish-style casita is filled to the brim with projects in progress, cupcake trials, and cat fur. Lots of cat fur. Since we can’t cram 100 people into our house, we are getting hitched at a loft downtown. We want it to feel homey, because having an intimate affair is important to us. Planning an eco-friendly, vegan, slightly rock and roll wedding has been challenging AND fun, and I am beyond thrilled to share all of the details with you!
