After we all got our makeup done, we headed straight to our venue, The Venetian.
Mr. Martini and I decided to have our rehearsal on the day of the wedding because of scheduling conflicts with our parents and the fact that two of our groomsmen were from out of state. So, we felt this would be the most convenient for everyone. When I got there with my BMs, Mr. Martini ran up to me, gave me a quick kiss, and calmly told me that there was a minor issue with one of the groomsmen. Apparently, he was nowhere to be found! Everyone left countless messages on his cell phone, and because he was probably one of the most responsible out of the six groomsmen, they were convinced that he was dead in a gutter somewhere and were very worried for him.
Anyone familiar with How I Met Your Mother might remember the Miracles episode at the end of season three. Ladies and gentleman, the following story is a true miracle.
Miracle number 1: Mr. M. called one of his friends who lived nearby to ask him to stop by groomsman P’s apartment to check up on him. He managed to get in touch with a group of friends that were carpooling and had already left for the wedding. But, just a little while before Mr. Martini called them, one of them realized that he forgot his shoes and the car was already turned around and heading back home. What are the chances of that?
Miracle number 2: Because P just moved into a new apartment, nobody knew where he lived. Mr. Martini didn’t know the address but he did help him on moving day for a short while so he vaguely remembered the area. He somehow lead his friends to the apartment by memory and miraculously remembered which apartment it was. He had to describe the surrounding location and didn’t even have an apartment number! If you know the Astoria, Queens area, you would know that most of the homes look pretty much the same on many of the streets.
Miracle number 3: One of the friends ran up to the apartment and rang the buzzer over and over again for several minutes, but nobody came to the door. He called Mr. Martini back to let him know that he probably had the wrong apartment, because it didn’t seem as if anyone was home. He decided to wait just a little longer, when all of a sudden the door slowly opened and a groggy groomsman peered out the door. It turned out that our dear P went out drinking the night before and got incredibly hammered. All this time he had still been in bed, and by then, hours late for the wedding! When he realized what was happening, he quickly changed into his tux and hopped in the car without even a shower, and totally reeking of alcohol.
By the time he finally showed up he had missed the rehearsal, and the photo session was just about to begin. He was terrified of seeing me and avoided me at all costs, even more than Mr. Martini! But I didn’t get mad at all. In fact, when Mr. M told me what happened (and he told me only after he found out where P was), I just shrugged my shoulders and said that as long as he made it in time for pictures, the I was happy… and he did, though barely. Mr. M was shocked, but relieved. The funny thing is that this is something that would have never been expected of P - he really is totally responsible! The wedding was about three months ago, but we all still make fun him and “that time he almost missed the wedding”. I don’t think he will ever live this down.
Here are some pictures from when we first got to the venue. We had just completed our rehearsal when our awesome photographers, Cly Creation, got to the venue and immediately started clicking away. All pictures below were captured by Cly.
Matthew and Chung took my dress for a while and I had no idea why, until I later saw this amazing shot!
There is a God… it fit! I was terrified that my dress would be too tight on the wedding day, but it turned out to be a bit loose on me. Brides had always told me that no matter what, you tend to lose a few pounds just before the wedding, and it’s true!

One of my BMs helped me put my earrings on.
Touching up my makeup before the ceremony
Mommy moment - putting on her shoulder corsage. We chose this instead of a wrist corsage because we thought it would be more comfortable and wouldn’t get in the way of their traditional hanboks.
My Mr. M, making sure his tux is on right.
Mr. Martini was all smiles, after the missing groomsman had been found and was on his way.
My wonderful ladies, getting each other prettied up!
Daddy moment.
Get ready for shoe overload! Matthew and Chung ran off with my shoes and took awesome shots with them around the venue; enough to make a traveling gnome jealous. Here are some of my faves:
Here, I’m finally reunited with my shoes! For some reason I love this shot, because you can see my ratty old Uggs in the background, but it’s still such a beautiful shot!
