Miss Poodle's Picture
Miss Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Miss Poodle

Cute for the Ladies

July 23rd, 2009 @ 9:33 am by Miss Poodle

I’ve been researching for the girls’ dresses, just to have ideas I can show them later and to ask them what they think will be comfortable for the wedding.  My mom actually offered to make them, but I’m not planning 100% on that because I’m not sure how much time she will have available.

Here are the ones that caught my attention (just the shapes, not all the colors).

I can imagine all of them in a purple and green combination. smile01 It gets me so excited!

Now if I could manage to make these with my mom, it would be soooo cool, not just because we could pick the fabric and colors, but because we could custom-fit them. Each girl could choose what best fits them based on their body types. smile01 Keep dreaming, Miss Poodle! I need a clone to do everything I’m planning on doing… hee hee.

Are you suggesting to your ‘maids what they’ll wear? If so, how are you approaching them, and are they paying for the dresses themselves?

I like that last one, in fact, that was one I bookmarked when i was looking for Bridesmaid dresses too! I sent suggestions to my maids and then brought MOH shopping with me and sent them all the pics of the ones we liked. They did end up paying for their dresses which were about $140.

You could always pick a few different dresses and then ket your bms pick one they like. Especially if you stick with one designer so all the colors match.

i love the jcrew dress (the 7th). it’s just so flirty and fun. I told my girls the color that i wanted (yellow) and asked them to send me links to all dresses that they found in yellow that they liked, and i sent them ones that they liked, i also asked them to send me their budgets so that i knew how much my max would be.

I love dress number 1, 8, and 9! Eight especially would work really well with a purple & green combo…with number one, you might have you have half your girls in purple and half in green, but that would be cool! =)

The 7th one is amazing!!! Not only is it super cute but they could actually wear it again which makes it alot less painful to spend so much on a dress.

I chose the make (Dessy) and colour, and then let them choose the styles - they also happened to chose the same fabric, so they matched quite well, while still suiting their own style.

My wedding dress looks almost just like the first one. I got mine at David’s Bridal in the BM section, less than $100!

CUTE! I am having my BM’s do Jcrew dresses, I’m specifying the color, but letting them pick whichever dress they like in that particular shade, depending on which one makes them most comfortable!

oooh, I love the ruffles on the 2nd one and the last one! And where I’m from, it’s typical for the BMs to purchase their own gown.

SO CUTE!! Actually, I have dress #6! The satin with the criss-crossed waist detail…I chose it as my bridesmaid dress for my friends’ wedding!! I loved it! So comfy!!!

I love these dresses!
I’ve picked Alfred Angelo in satin and in the color Berry and picked about 10 dresses - some short, some long, some strapless, some not - and asked my bridesmaids to pick one. I’m excited to see how it all comes together…

I think you commented on my post/poll with the last dress as an option. In the end I’m going with the other one I had up. I love all the ones you’re suggesting! I ended up picking the one they all said they’d wear again.

I’m giving my bridesmaids some guidelines — the dresses have to be cocktail length and the color “watermelon” from David’s. Besides that, they can pick whatever they would like. My MOH (my sister) is wearing the peek a boo skirt and a sash to stand out a bit.

i actually told my ladies to pick out some that they like and we’d make the final decision together. one less thing for me to do, and as long as they are pink, short, all the same and don’t make anyone look better than me (hee hee), they can wear whatever they want!

i love the jcrew dress you picked out (#7) and the third dress.

I tried to make this easy on my bridesmaids. I asked each of them to pick out a black, knee length dress for the wedding. Every woman has a little black dress or can purchase an inexpensive one, and women look great in black! It’s a win-win situation.

I love that JCrew dress the best! It is the most rewearable post- wedding…plus it is just too cute!

Love the style you’re going towards. I originally thought I wanted shorter dresses for my BMs but my MOH and I went this weekend and ended up picking long dresses. We picked out 5 we like and the BMs can all pick their style from those but they’ll be the same color and same fabric. Hopefully the rest of the BMs like what MOH and I picked!

I love the JCrew dress as well. I actually bought all the fabric and then each girl worked with the seamstress to make the dress she wanted. I paid for the fabric and they payed for the labor (which was around $80). I liked that they were all in the same color/fabric but that all the dresses were different and fit each girl perfectly.

I was in the most horrific wedding once where I was forced to wear the most ridiculous ugly monstrosity I have ever seen. I swore then I would never make my bridesmaids wear a dress they did not like. I let my bridesmaids pick out the style of dress they want but they just had to stick to the same color. Each bridesmaid is wearing a different style. To boot, I picked up the tab!

Miss Poodle, there is a dress I think you’re over looking. It’s super easy to create, and beautiful all the same. It’s the infinity dress!

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=271380.0

You can tie it a million different ways and it’s got an adorable shape. Plus it’s only a circle skirt, band, and the two straps. That’s it!

Of course your selections are cute too, but keep that one in mind for ease.

My bridesmaids are wearing Mori Lee so I love the first one!! And that J.crew one is very cute and the Alfred Angelo under it is cute as well. Very nice picks.

I vote for #8, the brown & green from Alfred Angelo! However, I am biased as thats what my maids wore :) You can see pics of the dress in a different color on my bio. My maids were super cool about the dress - I found it online and liked it so we went to the store together, they tried it on and ordered them. It wasnt too expensive and they paid for their own dress.

@dancemom: That was a great deal!
@Mrs. Sushi: That’s the one thing I really loved, I told my lil sister about pockets and she loved it too.
@AnamCara: I love the unmatched option :)
@StylishE: That’s so true, a lil black dress is something we all need on our closet ;)@ggsb: That’s what I’m thinking on doing, great idea!
@shopgirl: hehe that’s sad/funny! Sorry! so good you don’t want to do the same they did to you.
@365: OMG! last year I made a very similar dress dark brown and bright blue, SO much like that one but not reversible. I love this idea! your so cool! :)@naangel55: I’m checking your bio, NOW! hehe

I told them they could pick what they wanted, and all picked the same dress. They can do whatever accessories and black shoes, plus I got them pashminas. They paid for their dresses

Dude I so wish that first one would STAY flared out like that at all times. I would buy it and wear it every day. Like a crazy person. And in that color, too.
