For the Love of Etsy, Part 1

July 23rd, 2009 @ 6:07 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

I admit I am not great at navigating Etsy. I find it overwhelming with so many different items having the same search tags! Luckily, some folks have it down and post their finds on the many blogs I check. My Etsy bookmarks are virtually bursting, hehe, so it’s time to share my finds! I’m not sure if any of these will show up at our wedding, but virtual window shopping is always fun!

Round 1: (All images are from the Etsy seller’s site unless otherwise noted)

Twigs & Honey

Hair flowers are so in right now, whether it’s with a birdcage veil or without, you see them everywhere. Which also means Twigs & Honey is sooo in right now… do you see how many of these are sold? I’m a fan. I especially like this giant fluffy piece! I think it would be perfect for a winter wedding, don’t you?

UnlessSomeoneLikeYou

This is poster is such a cute idea, though I wonder if anyone would really hang my wedding poster in their house. Doesn’t matter! Look how cute and unique this is, and of course, it’s all custom.

Naya and Irene

I’m not sure if we are having a flower girl. I know, I know, they are super cute. Our church doesn’t allow you to scatter petals on the floor, which makes me very sad. It’s the reason I took a while to book our chapel. Nonetheless, I spotted and saved this really cute dress that would be perfect for a flower girl.

Tracy B Designs

This might not be for everyone, but I saw this piece on Style Me Pretty in a featured wedding and thought it was a really nice alternative to hair flowers. The Etsy seller sells this as a pendant, and the bride made it into a wrist flower.

Amour Sans Anguish

OK, some of these dresses are sort of out there, but they’re always new and different. At some point I thought to myself, ‘Ooh these could be fun shower or rehearsal dinner dresses,’ but I don’t see any of the dresses that initially attracted me still on the site. Mr Sunbeam is probably relieved by that last sentence since he does not share the same love for Anthropologie-esque things as I do!

Some Etsy sellers are getting so popular, the sellers are busy filling backorders! I remember when the site was brand new and I thought it was a cool outlet for crafty people. I never would have guessed it would be a booming business like it is today. So, like everything else wedding related, if you want it, put in an order ASAP! And be persistent. Don’t let your email get buried in their in boxes! I like to send a new one if I haven’t heard back in a week just saying I’m keeping my email fresh. It can’t hurt!

More faves to come! :)

I really like the idea of a wrist flower in lieu of a corsage. I might have to steal that idea : )

I love Etsy. It amazes me how talented people are!

the hive got me addicted to etsy! grrrr. kidding.

i love the poster idea! even if you just have one that matches your stationary for your house. jewish marriage contracts (ketubahs) are decorative and are usually framed and hung up after the wedding. go for it!

I didn’t know a THING about Etsy until Weddingbee. Just one of the things I love about this site! :-)

That flower girl dress is adorable!

Definitely go for the poster if you’re into it. We sent posters for our save the dates and it was a HUGE hit. And every single person who mentioned them told us they were hanging in their homes. Some even put them up in a frame! So I say go for it.

FYI, this is where I got my poster:
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24951518&ref=sr_gallery_21&&ga_search_query=wedding+poster&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=5&order=date_desc&includes=tags&includes=title

Kind of a different look, but we really liked it.

Also (and I swear this is not why I told you to go for the poster), I have a ton of leftover poster tubes I’m trying to get rid of for cheap. Let me know if you’re interested.

Naya & Irene are no more! =( Got shut down due to “creative differences” with etsy. Hmmm…
But, there are def TONS of super adorable flower girl/ish dresses on Etsy!

I am also so overwhelmed by the Etsy searches…I am so thankful for Weddingbee ladies like you who post their finds so I don’t have to navigate through on my own!

I’m also on etsy! http://www.goagainstthegrain.etsy.com

@KatieBug3017: you can use the advanced search and the more relevant search to narrow it down it if gets too overwhelming.
