One upside to Stone Age living has been that it’s given us plenty of time to spend paying attention to each other and our relationship in the first few weeks of marriage. We didn’t live together before the wedding, so the past two weeks since the honeymoon were our introduction to what it’s going to be like from here on out.
Honestly, it’s awesome being married. We both LOVE coming home to each other every night, and because we’re each enjoying ourselves, we’re nice to each other (most of the time). It’s been a self-perpetuating state of wedded bliss thus far.
That’s not to say that we haven’t had some difficult moments — because we definitely have.
For one thing, being married hasn’t made mornings any easier for Mr. Bunny. He is just not ever going to be a morning person, I don’t think. I’ve tried to be sweet and cheerful in the mornings even when he’s grumpy, but sometimes I really have to kick his butt to get him out of bed!
We haven’t had many opportunities to eat dinner together, so this morning I decided to make breakfast. I confess - I hoped that the smell of bacon and blueberry pancakes would sweeten Mr. Bunny’s usually-grouchy AM temperment.

It was not to be, however. It took four or five tries to get Mr. Bunny out of bed for Martha Stewart’s blueberry cornmeal pancakes (which I saw on Bakerella earlier this week). On top of that, I burned the bacon and turned our kitchen into a smoky disaster zone!

Breaking in a marriage is like breaking in a pair of new shoes. You might have bought them because they look fantastic and make you feel like a million bucks, but it still might take days … or weeks … or months before the shoes stop rubbing your feet the wrong way, pinching your toes and giving you crazy painful blisters.
Three weeks ago today, I took the plunge, bought the shoes and threw away the reciept. This marriage may occasionally give me blisters, but I still smile every time I look down at my left hand. I’m loving every minute of it!

About Me: Organized, but messy. I love art (all kinds). I don't have any secrets. I talk a lot and listen even more. I show love by baking. I'm timid by nature, but brave when it counts.
Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. In spite of that little hurdle, we've managed to build a pretty solid relationship in the short one-and-a-half years we will have been together when we tie the knot. I can't wait!
