About Mrs. Sunbeam

The Skeleton & The Clown

July 27th, 2009 @ 5:21 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

You’d never guess this post was about our invitations, would you?? I know it doesn’t sound very romantic, but bear with me! Since Mr. Sunbeam and I grew up together, we happen to have a few very special keepsakes - like a home video taken by FFIL Sunbeam. The video was taken during our Halloween parade and for about ten seconds, Mr Sunbeam is standing right behind me! I love watching that brief moment of two kids, who couldn’t care less about each other, clueless that they will be getting married 20 years later! He was a skeleton, and I was a clown.

You’re probably thinking, okay that’s cute and all, but this still doesn’t feel very wedding-y to me.

I know, I thought the same thing. That’s why when Mr Sunbeam started sketching our motif, I encouraged him to make it as un-Halloweeny as possible! We’re certainly not throwing a day of the dead wedding here. I think they turned out great, but you can be the judge! Here is the final suite:

We linked up a video on our personal wedding site so family and friends are not dazed and confused when they see our invitation motif! We had them printed by Sanskripts and lucked out with a 10% off coupon and free shipping via Snippet & Ink. Bree, the woman behind the business, is so sweet, and designs her own line of invitations at a great price, if you are interested. Oh, it was a moment of excitement when we let these babies loose into the world! Our wedding is really happening. People will show up at the time and place on the invites to celebrate our marriage, whether or not I get all my DIY projects done or choose my flowers in time. People will be there! Safe travel, lovelies!

One downside was that I had our invites weighed and was told our invites just made it to use a 44 cent stamp. Well, we just got a call today from Mr Sunbeam’s aunt that she got a “bill” in the mail for 17 cents because of our invitations. *embarrassing* I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

How many ladies in the hive are making their invitations? Did you have any jitters when you finally stuffed a mailbox full of your pretty papers?

Darling! I always love originality, but originality with a bit of sentiment is even better.

Oh my gosh, that is so neat! I love that you have a little snippet of the past on video! Hehe how adorable that must be. I think it’s perfectly “you two”, without being overly day-of-the-dead!

They’re so adorable! I totally got jitters when we mailed our invites, but was really excited soon after. How embarrassing about the bill — I didn’t know the post office could bill you for 17 cents!!

I love the look of them all tied up together! Very cute! Don’t worry with the cute little drawing… ours has an airplane with our initals and date on the tailfin of the plane. It is what makes this about the two of you! :)

That’s so cute that you grew up together! I love that you used that for your invites - weddings with *meaning* are so my thing. Can you post a video still of that Halloween video one day?

My FI is a mail carrier and deals with postage dues every day. His customers usually just leave the change in the mailbox with the postage due slip. My honey is so thoughtful that he pays the postage dues upfront and his customers pay him back.
So if you get any more calls about postage dues, that is what I would suggest!
