I love vegan red velvet cupcakes, pilates ,and mid-century furniture. Mr. Sprinkle and I met when my band toured through his city (we bonded over cake and a mutual love of Morrissey) and we are getting married on the four year anniversary of our first date. About Mrs. Sprinkle

A few months ago I had a little brain scare and ended up in the ER for six hours. Although I am fine now, things were a bit scary. I had to get two bags of fluids. The nurses couldn’t find a vein. When a nurse finally got the needle in, I was relieved until my hand started to swell — the hand with my two day old engagement ring on it!  It took me a few minutes to get it off but I managed. Close call!

Mr. S proposed to me with my mom’s original engagement ring… then he had me pick one out for myself! So now I have two. I don’t wear them very often because most days I am elbow deep in Play-Doh and worm bins, but when I do wear one I secretly giggle at it every time I catch a glimpse.

My set (vintage, 1940’s, bought from etsy.com):

Words and Photos: So Many Rings! : wedding engagement rings Il 430xn59371954

For Mr. Sprinkle, we purchased a simple tungsten band off eBay, but it is a bit large. We will be doing some more online searching this month for another option…

Where did you find your wedding bands? We are looking for something a little unusual, but also simple and durable!

We’re getting our bands from the jeweler where the boy bought my engagement ring. They sell Christian Bauer which I am a big fan of.

I’m so glad you are okay! Very scary. As for your rings, beautiful! I love that look because you don’t see any rings made with the center setting style like that anymore—so special to snag one!

Oh and your comment about worms made me giggle :)

I giggle when I see mine, too. And I have been wearing it for 3 years!
We got my FI’s ring from http://www.titaniumkay.com. It is Tungsten and was a mere $56! It is beautiful and I am very happy with the service we received.

My mom found an e-ring at an antique store for $250 in Spokane, WA that looks almost identical to yours! I almost decided to wear it, but had already fallen hard for my vintage purchase from an online store so I passed it up. How fun it would have been to be ring twins.

These are beautiful! Maybe you can float around the antique stores in your area for your wedding bands?

We had both of our rings custom made in downtown L.A.’s jewelry district. When I looked for something close to my ring at Robbins Bros., they were charging the price of my entire ring (.9ct D-color, SI1 diamond, with smaller all around, total weight of 1.4 - or something like that) for just the band, diamonds not included. Let me know if you would like his contact information.

Over the weekend we went to the jewelry district in LA and looked around at Tungsten rings. Some places try to tell you they’ll be $1200 (no joke), another place said around $100, then $300 for a plain white gold band. It really depends on what station you go to, prices vary. My suggestion is to go look around, find out his size, what he likes…then go home and buy it online for much cheaper.

your rings are gorgeous! i would recommend getting your husband a platinum wedding band… platinum is the most durable of the precious metals, and it’s so classic! plus, i really like the weight… it’s a little heavier than other metals. engagementguide.com has some cool ring styles that are a little different… i really like this one:

good luck!

love your vintage set! Etsy is the way to go. My e-ring is from seller Shade Jewelry (or something similar), I’m super happy with it. (I giggle too.)

Very pretty rings. I’d recommend going with platinum if you want a durable ring…tungsten can’t be re-sized if his finger grows out of it, and I’ve heard they are next to impossible to get off in an emergency.

@Curlysue: thank you! i am fine now :) and worm bins/compost = my life!! i would be too scared of losing a ring in the composty goodness :)

@Mrs. Avocado: i have seen a few of these around actually! i am trying to find out the story behind them, i am thinking they were mass produced in the 40’s.

@Champagne Wishes: good idea, thank you!

@shelliduke: gigglers unite!

Sometimes I wish we’d gone the antique route, those rings are gorgeous and we’re both history nerds (as you might be able to tell). Didn’t think about it at the time though, oh well. Maybe an anniversary ring down the road :D
