Mrs. Bunny's Picture
Mrs. Bunny, Columbus Age and Occupation: 24, Associate Editor/Reporter Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Reporter Engagement Date: September 23, 2008 Wedding Date: July 2009 Venue: Everal Barn, Westerville About Me: Organized, but messy. I love art (all kinds). I don't have any secrets. I talk a lot and listen even more. I show love by baking. I'm timid by nature, but brave when it counts. Mr. Bunny and I work at competing weekly newspapers, which makes it a little interesting trying to describe our work joys and frustrations without giving away too much before the paper comes out. In spite of that little hurdle, we've managed to build a pretty solid relationship in the short one-and-a-half years we will have been together when we tie the knot. I can't wait!
About Mrs. Bunny

A technician came out to our house yesterday and hooked up our internet, so you know what that means…

It’s time for the Bunny time traveling adventure to commence!

We’ll start by going back more than a month before the wedding.

Bunny Bridal Countdown: The Showers (30+ Days) : wedding bridal shower Time

Please watch the swinging carrot … Yes, that’s it …You’re getting veeerrry sleepy … When you wake, it will be May 30, when Miss Bunny was the newest bee and most of you were reading about the preparations she’d been making between January and May.

Mr. Bunny grew up in a small town two hours away from Columbus, so we held two showers. One was here in Columbus and was thrown by a group of women from my parents’ church in the middle of May. The other was held in Mr. B’s hometown.

Both were your typical church-basement showers. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining in the slightest! Our families and friends were extraordinarily generous and we’re very grateful.

Bunny Bridal Countdown: The Showers (30+ Days) : wedding bridal shower Img 671 At the first one held at my parents’ church, my Aunt V. gave a really great devotional about the meaning of marriage. Everything she said has really stuck with me. Marriage is really between three people — you, your spouse, and God, she said — and the purpose of marriage is to help you grow closer to God and to each other. Loving your spouse teaches you about loving God and vice versa.

Bunny Bridal Countdown: The Showers (30+ Days) : wedding bridal shower Img 670 Sunny, Funny and Honey Bunny bridesmaids (plus honorary bridesmaid Mimsy, left) had several hushed conversations in the days leading up to the shower, so I knew they were planning something nefarious.

Bunny Bridal Countdown: The Showers (30+ Days) : wedding bridal shower Img 67101

They put together a great quiz about Mr. Bunny and me and each got up and shared some funny and embarrassing memories of me. I swear, I’m not that bad a driver, guys! I figured those two things were the reason for the whispered conversations until I opened up my last gift. It was a light blue tank top and panties and a book called Sheet Music… har har.

Bunny Bridal Countdown: The Showers (30+ Days) : wedding bridal shower Img 67102 Sister Sunny Bunny read the answers to the quiz.

Bunny Bridal Countdown: The Showers (30+ Days) : wedding bridal shower Img 67203 Honey Bunny took on the task of assembling my rehearsal bouquet.

Bunny Bridal Countdown: The Showers (30+ Days) : wedding bridal shower Img 67204 One of the coolest things about showers at my parents’ church is that the ladies always make a quilt for the couple. They’re always exquisitely beautiful. I think we’ll either use it on the bed in our guest room or hang it on the wall.

Then we all enjoyed some delicious snacks!

The shower in Mr. Bunny’s hometown was great, too. His aunts and cousins planned a great party that included fun games. The winners took home mini-cookbooks. Unfortunately, I didn’t take many photos at the shower in Mr. Bunny’s hometown.

But seriously, how awesome is this cake?

Bunny Bridal Countdown: The Showers (30+ Days) : wedding bridal shower Coolcak

I can’t believe they got a baker to replicate our invitation design! SO cool!

I also donated a couple poms for the occasion. I don’t think they knew they were designed for hanging, but whatev. They look nice on the gift table, don’t you think?

Bunny Bridal Countdown: The Showers (30+ Days) : wedding bridal shower Poms

If I haven’t given you a shower thank you yet, I am SOOOO sorry! I promise they’ll be in the mail tomorrow and that I am VERY thankful for your gift!

Honestly, I’d get miffed if I got a thank you for a shower 3 months later. I would be personally appalled to send one out a year later.

BTW, the cake is ADORABLE!

I love your monogram on the cake! It looks like you had a great time and I love that you have a quilt made in honor of your marriage. It will be a great heirloom.

I love the showers, love the monogram and I personally think get those thank you’s out as soon as you can. Personally, if I got an invite three months later I wouldn’t be mad but if it was much longer or at, as you asked, one year, I would just throw it away and not care. I think after that long it’s just ridiculous someone didn’t take the time when they should have.

I think the one year rule applies for the wedding, but not necessarily for showers. My shower was the 18th, and I’m finishing mine tonight to send out tomorrow. I think a more timely deadline like 1 - 2 months tends to be most appropriate. Although, maybe it’s just because the Alert has been staring at me from my Outlook since the Monday after the shower!

While you have three months for wedding gifts, I treated my shower gift notes as I would any other gift (i.e. two weeks).

@Miss Sapphire: The shower was May 17 — 6 weeks before the wedding. Is it really that bad that a few of the thank yous haven’t gone out? Most of them were mailed within a few weeks, but then the wedding madness kicked in and I didn’t have any more free time! *winces and runs from angry thank you note recipients*

@dckatiebug: Ack, I didn’t realize it was that short a time for shower gifts! Why isn’t this addressed in more wedding literature?! I guess I didn’t have much experience writing thank yous when I was a kid, but I’ve been very good about it in the past couple years. Thanks for the heads up!

I guess this settles it. The rest of the thank you notes must be mailed tomorrow at the latest and the wedding thank yous are now at the top of my to-do list. I’m a horrible bride and will beg my friends and family’s forgiveness!

Ah, not a horrible bride! Just one with a lot on her plate.

Although I will tell ya, if it was my mom, and me asking her if I should have sent those pesky things out, she would have point blank asked me what in the world I had been doing with my time at night (especially since if I was you and didn’t have internet). Wink Wink!

OH, WHATEVER is all I have to say about the thank you note time line. when I get thank you notes, I am just pleased to get one, no matter when it comes. please do not stress yourself out about it. if other people can get them out in a two week time line, good for them.

Completely Off Topic, but I WANT the clock in the picture! Is it a real clock? It’s the coolest clock I’ve ever seen.
