Thank you so much to everyone who helped me figure out what on earth to do with my head. I ended up going for a blend of the inspiration photos. At first we tried to give the style a bit of texture on the sides, but neither of us were too wild about it.
Then we slicked the front back and gave the bun/chignon part more texture.
I’ve been seriously struggling with my particular birdcage veil ever since I moved away from the structured, “clean lines” theme we had going in the beginning of wedding planning. However, after trying it on during the first fitting and now bringing it to the hair trial - I loooove it. Here it is, in near full glory!
On the day of, we’ll pin the feathers a bit closer to my head, tease my hair for more volume and bring down the side swept bangs a little.
Up next? Makeup!

I really had no idea what I wanted–just that it was up and not slicked back. What my hairstylist came up with was perfect. Soft romantic, kind of vintage–perfect! Your hair is beautiful, and yes that veil is perfect with the hair!
