Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.

Hair Clay Flower

July 28th, 2009 @ 11:18 am by Mrs. Poodle

I love hair flowers, but I never had an excuse to wear one until I started planning the wedding. smile I’ve been dreaming about having a cute hair flower since I was like 15 years old, along with making my dress hehe.

My first option was a clay hair flower, because I’m in love with clay ever since I started making the flowers for my bouquet.

But I wanted a rose, so I started playing and did a hair clay flower trial!! It was so much fun - I love clay soo much!

Don’t pay attention to the wires. I had them there to make the holes and attach the hair pins later. That’s my lil sister helping me to see how it looks on real hair hehe.

Even though I liked the way it looked, I’m seriusly worried about how dangerous this can be for Mr. Poodle - I’m SO good stabbing him on the eye with whatever I have on my hair, so I started looking for other (more friendly to him) options:

I really loved the idea of making a rose because I’m using roses on my bouquet. I thought this one was sooo cute made by Etsy seller allorahandmade.

Then I saw how cute the idea having a flower made of recycled fabric was, like this one offered by Etsy seller Cultivar.

Then I ran into Etsy seller myrakim, ooh my! I loved her hair flowers mixed with feathers. ( I hearts feathers now. smile )

Form the same seller I saw this awesome turquoise option that made me think about having a purple hair flower.

Because I have purple fabric in my house, I tried to simulate a flower to see how the purple would look on my hair; Really fast I went back to wanting a white flower again - my hair is too dark and I feel like the purple kinds of blends. There’s definitely not enough contrast.

Remember the awesome organza embellishment tutorial by our loved Miss Piglet? Yeah! that was exactly what came to my mind after looking at this purple flower.

On the search for more white flowers options, I found this! I love having different layers on different fabrics, like this from Etsy seller HARTfeltart. So cute!

And I even found the perfect tutorial on the Martha Stewart Wedding page; it even has templates to cut the petals, yay!

So my story for the search of the perfect hair flower will be continued…

Do you have a project you decided not to use after you completed it?

Very pretty! I was wondering how heavy clay would be in your hair - but fabric is the way to go. Bigger, big arse hair flower (referencing my own post on it). Great job though. You are really good with clay…and everything.

LOVE your clay version! I can’t wait to see your bouquet. My hair flower was gorgeous. The etsy seller PresumtuousMe did a beautiful (and very affordable) custom flower for me. (It looks a lot like her “Golden Love Flower.”) Her “White Silk Flower” is amazing…and huge! She is worth checking out. This is unfortunately the best pic I could find:

What a cool idea: clay hair flowers. Well, I’m sure you could figure out something else to do with the clay flowers if you’re not going to wear them in your hair. Custom cake toppers perhaps?
