We Sunbeams have had quite the technology update during the past year or so. The latest, getting iPhones, were early birthday presents for the pair of us. Getting them was a terrible experience! Don’t let the Apple store tell you, “We can’t do that here, but AT&T can do that for you no problem.” Because it is a problem. A big one. But let’s move on. Like any good bride, I checked for wedding apps right away. I even checked out this ’Top 8’ list. Sadly I didn’t find any I had to have - and I still want one so bad! Here is a smattering of what I’ve looked over.

A few options, like Wedding Date, are just counters. Cost: $0.99.

The Wedding List is dedicated to keeping track of your guests. That’s right, whole app for tracking your guests, with categories like, ’Invited All Day’ and ’Just The Evening’. This felt a bit bridezilla to me, not to mention those categories are pretty odd. If it were one of many elements of the app, great, but a whole app just for guests… wasn’t for me. Cost: $2.99.

There are apps like WeddingWire that help you find wedding related vendors around you. I wasn’t sure if it allowed users to search for vendors in other areas, so I downloaded it to try because it was free. It looks like you can search according to zip code, so this could have been helpful if I was in the starting stages of wedding planning, but I’m 2 months away! Next. Cost: Free

iWedding has potential, but it’s pricey for an app! This one has a checklist, guest tracker, budget, and gives you “inspirations” which sounds to me like links to advertisers. It only gets a 2.5 star rating - most comments say difficult to use. Okay, I’ll pass - it’s not quite what I wanted either. Cost: $7.99

Wedding Envi is an app that generates slideshows of wedding related images. They must not realize how awesome wedding blogs are, that they are accessible via iPhones for free, and therefore how much I do not need this. Cost: $1.99

Finally, My Wedding. It’s a checklist app that as a Magic 8 Ball-like feature to help you “make crucial decisions”. Hmm, I’m not one to leave those choices to chance. Cost $3.99.
Maybe I am being picky about wedding apps, mostly because many aren’t very helpful at 2 months to go, but I must ask - where is Martha Stewart’s Wedding app?! Or how about a Weddingbee app? Brides.com? The Knot? What I would love in an app are the Microsoft Word’s tools, like their budget and to do list - with reminders! Then sprinkle in a photo gallery so I can see my dress and accessories, or even inspirations accessories all on one frilly page. A vendor search would be a bonus, not so much for me, but for freshly engaged brides. Finally I would ask that my perfect app cost $0.99 so I can justify buying a wedding app with 2 months to go!
I hope some of you see a helpful app among these! Has anyone purchased apps for your wedding? Do you have any faves or apps to avoid to share with us?
