I have to say when we started planning, videography didn’t even make it on to the list of things we were concerned about or wanted to spend money on. A large majority of the wedding videos I had seen up to that point had been pretty boring—think single camera fixed on the bride and groom set to Enya’s greatest hits. Something like that was not something I would cherish or want to watch repeatedly. To give those videos a bit of credit, I’m pretty sure they were all from the ’80s and early ’90s, but I still just wasn’t interested.
Mr. Cloud had other ideas, however. Not only had he studied video production in school for a while, but for a time before we were engaged had been helping a few friends out with their own wedding video business. So he really wanted our wedding on tape to look back on. And he didn’t want it shot by just a friend with a personal camcorder hiding in the corner of the church; he wanted the full-blown real deal. And as Mama Cloud reminded me, Mr. C hadn’t insisted on much about the wedding at that point so the least I could do was look into it.
So I kept an eye out, not really seeing any sample videos by people in the Richmond area that amazed me, or that I thought were worth the money they were charging. Then I saw a small mention on a blog somewhere for humanstory films. I watched a few video clips and was crying; they were so beautifully shot and edited.
Not only were they amazing, but they were right here in Richmond! Mr. Cloud and I decided then and there we would have them shoot our wedding, or have no one at all. We set up an appointment with William Gaff, and after blabbing our life stories to him for a few hours we were even more eager! Who wouldn’t want something like this to remember their day by?

If you recognize William’s name it’s because he is a one of the pros on Weddingbee PRO! He is praised as being one of the best in the business, and I have to go ahead and brag, he was even nominated for an Emmy this year!! So, a HUGE congrats to him! I still drool over his work regularly and I am now a videography convert. I cannot wait to see what he does with our story!
Did you fall in love at first sight with any vendors? Or, did you end up hiring someone for a service you didn’t think you cared about?

we’re using them too… it was the first and BEST vendor choice we’ve made in teh entire planning process! much like you i CAN’T WAIT to see what he does with out video! i know exactly the excitement you’re feeling about working with him!
I remember seeing this video awhile back and drooling over it! Mr. Lab and I have been fighting about a videographer for about a week now, but I think we’ve finally come to a compromise.

I had a similar realization about wedding videos — there are so many great vendors out there these days! Instead of making me cringe, just about all the ones I see on websites or blogs make me tear up. I’m sure you’ll love the end result!
Having a video was not on my “must have” list either.. until I saw what the possibilities were. I am having serendipity studios do my wedding.. http://www.beyondordinary.net and they are fantastic! The final product will be very similar to this :0)
I cried. I might be a videographer convert now. I hired this kid, I think I will show him that.
I have not yet hired anyone I didn’t think I was going to yet, but I HAVE fallen head over heels for my caterer and florist. They are both self starting women with their own companies who love their jobs, which for me is living the American dream, and I have no problem trusting them to help make our day amazing. They are also the first and only vendor’s I’ve met with so far- my love goggles for them have kept me from second guessing. I am, however, newly converted to wanting a videographer… so we’ll see where that goes and how I fit it in the budget I love this video, thanks for sharing!

Ok, ok… all this videography posting had made up my mind and *GASP!* 30 days prior to our wedding, I called and booked one! I live in a fairly small town, (there were only 2 in the phone book!) and he was FREE our weekend! Sending samples and the contract tomorrow - I hope I fall in love because I think I’d regret it forever if I don’t get a video! Loved loved LOVED the clips and watched all on the website too!

What if you could make a documentary film about your Love Story to show AT your wedding event? I idid this for my wedding-Rewind Pictures interviewed our closest family and friends about us separately and our journey together up to the big day! They combined those interviews with our photos home video and music and it was the PERFECT way to start off the celebration! We also gave it as gifts to our wedding party and families and we are psyched to hopefully show our kids one day! I definitely recommend this. It’s so worth it!
