Mrs. Sprinkle, Los Angeles Age and Occupation: 26, Preschool Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Television Production/Writer Engagement Date: December 24, 2008 Wedding Date: September 2009 Venue: The Marvimon House About Me: I'm a Bay Area native trying to create a life for myself (and my fiance, and our three cats!) in the vast city of Los Angeles. I love vegan red velvet cupcakes, pilates ,and mid-century furniture. Mr. Sprinkle and I met when my band toured through his city (we bonded over cake and a mutual love of Morrissey) and we are getting married on the four year anniversary of our first date. When I am not teaching preschool (or blogging!) you can find me perfecting recipes, petting kittens, hiking in Griffith Park, and overusing exclamation points. About Mrs. Sprinkle

Project: Girly Wearables!

July 30th, 2009 @ 12:28 pm by Mrs. Sprinkle

Here are the original dress ideas I had for the other ladies (maid of honor and best woman) that will be walking down that aisle with us:

Buy from: Modcloth

Buy from: Anthropologie

We have a small cast of wedding members: me (bride), Mr. S (groom), Gina Sprinkle (maid of honor), Cory Sprinkle (best woman), Lil’ Sprinklette (flower child), and Lil’ Sprinkle (ring child). Because of this, I was able to afford to buy the dresses for both ladies as gifts. To maximize their dress usage, I told them to pick any dress they wanted (within reason… I probably would have vetoed bright orange or anything extra poofy) but I sent along this list of dresses as a vague guide. Also, because of the small wedding party, I really didn’t want them to wear matching dresses. I thought it might look a bit silly to have them both wear the same dress and stand on either side of us. I haven’t seen this done before and just couldn’t picture it in my head.

It probably helped that Gina S. came up with half this list (she has a much keener eye for fashion than me), but both girls chose dresses from it!

After one dress fail (make sure to find out what material a dress is made of before ordering online or you could end up with jersey when you are looking for something a bit fancier!), Gina S. chose this dress:

and Cory S. picked this one:

I love that the dresses have a similar color and length, but they are different enough to not look at all match-y. The girls will be wearing whatever shoes and accessories they want. I am so glad there are no other grown men standing up with us - finding a suit for Mr. Sprinkle has been hard enough!

Did you dress your wedding party, or let them decide? If you did let them decide, did their outfit picks mesh well with your wedding vision?

I love the dress that Cori picked, the color and design.
I definitely agree with having your 2 friends wear different dresses, when it is a small wedding.

I wish I had let them decide, but at least they looked nice. I love the way the 2 dresses coordinate so well!

Love those outfits! I like the idea that they coordinate but aren’t matching.

I am only having a Moh but no bridal party. We picked the dress out together, but she had a lot of input.

I love all the choices, but I think those two are going to be great together! I like that they’re complimentary without being matchy-matchy.

oh what color of suit is Mr. Sprinkle wearing? I don’t know if we should do black suits or a different color to coordinate with the dresses.

I picked a color and then let them loose in David’s Bridal. The color will match, but they all picked a dress that suited them, from satin to chiffon. (Though I should have specified NOT strapless… though she did agree to floor-length instead of tea-length like her first choice so as to not mortify the FI’s conservative parents…. still… I wish I’d set out a couple more guidelines!!!!) I’m glad that they’ll have dresses they like on them, but bought them all matching earrings, necklaces, engraved silver bracelets and matching strappy heels! YAY! :)

I picked out (with everyone’s approval) a simple, black J.Crew dress for my bridal party. There was only 2 of them (MOH and bridesmaid), so, like you, it was easier to handle logistically. I really like what you guys decided on. Very pretty!
