A Makeover

July 31st, 2009 @ 11:59 am by Mrs. Cowboy Boot

I just got word that our ceremony site has undergone a transformation. I never showed it to you before, but don’t worry, not too much has changed—they replaced long, wooden benches with chairs and added the stone pathway. The minor tweaks have made it less rustic and more elegant.

I haven’t put too much thought into decorating it. I don’t want to add anything to my florist budget (and as of now, ceremony site decor is not in there) and as much as I love Mrs. Cherry Pie’s DIY jar lanterns I just can’t bring myself to buy one more thing (like Shepard’s hooks).

Now that you’ve seen it, what do you recommend?

I don’t remember where I saw it (maybe Style Me Pretty?) but I recently saw an outdoor wedding where the aisle was lined with lemons. It looked so charming and added that perfect pop of color!! Would working fruit into the decor work and add that little POP without costing too much?

What a gorgeous venue. Nothing’s prompted me to comment, but this is beyond beautiful. Makes me wish I’d gone for the CO wedding that I toyed with in my head.

Honestly, I wouldn’t touch a thing. The simplicity of the venue and the CO landscape speak volumes. Less is more for me. :)

I wouldn’t do anything - but if you wanted to, a simple decoration on the chairs on the aisle could be nice.

Oh those chairs are so nice! I don’t think you really need to add anything, the venue is stunning!

But if you want to dress up the aisle on the cheap consider paper lanters, potted plants like mums, or what about your centerpieces doing double-duty? Even tying bunches of raffia on every other aisle-end would add a touch of rustic fun and keep the budget low.

You could pick blue bonnets and put them in vases on the ground?

bummer about the benches!
Have you thought about bringing in bales of hay for seating, à la the Maie + Jim NY wedding?
I really don’t know how to pretty-fy my ceremony chairs & stuff either. I was thinking of doing something like this -

It looks PERFECT just as it is. Honestly, I wouldn’t touch a thing…the perfect balance of rustic simplicity and elegance.

I really don’t think it needs anything, the surrounding are so beautiful :) But, if you really want a little something I think Cupcake’s idea of the lemons sounds good (and cheap).

Wow, that stone path + the altar is just beautiful. I think it’s elegant and simple and amazing - I wouldn’t change a thing.

If you don’t want to spend anymore money, and must have something you might consider using DIYed paper poms. Since you now have chairs instead of long benches, you can just hang one on each chair along the aisle.

*jawdrop* That is your ceremony location? It’s beautiful! OMG! It’s so great honestly you could even leave it as is!

It’s really beautiful as is, but maybe just tying some ribbons to the aisle chairs, long and flowing in the breeze.

That is GORGEOUS!! I don’t think it needs anything at all, the surroundings are all the decoration you need!

Amazing, seriously breath taking! Could you tie things to the aisle chairs or the wood at the alter? Hmmm… You could just tie up some dahlias with rafia, and forego the jars all together? Regardless of what you decide to do you don’t need to do much, that view is so beautiful!!

How about little pumpkins lining the sides of the aisle?

We used Mrs. Peach’s (thank you!) prism aisle decor–a bit of ribbon, some heavy construction paper, glue & baby’s breath–they looked great & nobody was the wiser. They took me about 20 minutes to make. Here they are (hard to see, I know.)

We also repurposed a couple of Home Depot potted orchids (in painted pots) for altar decor.
