Mrs. Poodle's Picture
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol Engagement Date: February 25, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2010 Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
About Mrs. Poodle

Cheers To This!

July 31st, 2009 @ 10:31 am by Mrs. Poodle

I found this cool Etsy seller that works with glass recycled material. This is just like what I had in mind for cool, easy, eco-friendly and cheap vases for my recycled paper flowers idea.

Actually, my first “eco-friendly” plan was to cut wine bottles and make vases just like the ones Miss D’orsay made in this post.

After I told Mr. Poodle the idea, he said that we could even melt the glass and make cool shapes to add some more flavor to our centerpieces. That’s another thing erased from my list and on his! (Muaah-ha-ha!)

Okay, not like these ones, but I think you understand the idea.

It’s becoming more and more important to me to try to use recycled materials, not just because it’s a way to save money (yay!) but because It’s just feels good that I’m helping our beloved planet in some little way. smile07

How do you feel about recycling? How are you incorporating recycled materials into your wedding day?

We’re attempting to cut the wine bottles into vases as well. It hasn’t gone terribly smoothly so far though.

Hey Miss Poodle, could he cut the necks and bottoms of different colored wine bottles and melt the glass into fluted “flower” shapes? You could purchase the hanging lantern light cords and bulbs and have your own recycled beautiful homemade glass lanterns!

We’re doing this, too! Cut our bottles last weekend and will probably sand edges this weekend. Love the idea of incorporating recycling!

If you’re into multi-colored (brown, olive green, dark green etc) you can have a bunch from me! We were originally going to do all colors but then switched to clear for the centerpieces. I don’t know what the cost of shipping to CA would be, but the non-clear vases are all sanded down. They also sell glass etching kits at Michaels so you could etch a design yourself! Just message me if you’d like ‘em!

@Mojito: I thin those were the first ones I ran into, SO cute!!

@Kat: oh! that is such a cool idea!! I’ll tell Mr. Poodle about it because he’s the one doing the torch step :) Thank you for the idea!!

@ladybuglove: Besides Miss D’orsay’s tutorial I haven’t found another one, but acording to Mr. P it’s not so hard. Once I’m in California I’ll try to post his step by step :)

@Miss D’orsay: Your so sweet!! I’ll PM you ;)

@mrspaetz: Mr. P said he was going to use a torch thingy :) once he does it I’ll post his process!
