Getting Prettified - Part 2

July 31st, 2009 @ 11:07 am by Mrs. D'orsay

With the hair part done (thanks so much, you guys rock!), it’s time to discuss the makeup part of “getting prettified”. The one thing that always surprises me about bridal makeup is how intense it is. Which makes sense, since I’ll be running around for hours in the August heat being photographed. However… on a Sunday morning… grabbing coffee after the trial? Well… perhaps that should have waited until after the church crowd had departed…

You’ve already seen my makeup inspiration photo, but probably didn’t realize it. :)

Getting Prettified - Part 2 : wedding makeup trial 21

So, how did this look on me? Well, we had to take a guess on the eyes, so here is what we ended up with:

Getting Prettified - Part 2 : wedding makeup trial Dscf185

After getting home, I started to think the eye makeup might be a bit much. I have a tendency to wear my eyeliner a bit more like this…

I should probably also mention, the second eye photo? That may have been taken after a two-hour nap… so, uh… we’re only judging the eyeliner here.

What do you think? Would you change anything about the current look?

I think the makeup still looks great post-nap! And I’m so jealous of your awesome bone structure!

the eye make up won’t look as intense in photos - i thought that my friend’s was a bit dark @ the salon, but once we got there and inside the venue, it was not too much at all. Just a thought!

hmm, I think it looks good both pre and post nap! If you’re not comfortable with the eyeliner maybe have the artist do a little less next time…but it really does look beautiful :) I also really like the lip colour!

I second Bruschett about the bone structure!

Both are pretty! Especially after the nap! Mine would be smeared and half off!

In the second photo, the bottom eyeliner has blended a bit more. In the first one, it stops in a rather harsh line. I think that the intensity is fine - as other posters have mentioned, it will look great in photos. Just have your MUA blend the bottom eyeliner a little more.

i think the eye liner looks great because in photos it will really make them pop and defined. it doesn’t look intense in a bad way at all. it looks beeautiful. you’ve got to feel comfortable though, otherwise it will show.

hope you keep it!

I agree with PlaidBride. I think if you blend the eyeliner, it will make it look a lot softer, without looking like you have no makeup on in your photos.

I agree-blend the bottom liner. Otherwise, great–very natural, but with oomph. I went all out-black cat-eye, rouged cheeks, and big ole red lips, but judging from the pics, I think I may have pulled it off!

My best advice would be to photograph yourself outside in similar lighting to what you will be shooting on wedding day. I thought mine was much to intense in the salon, but when we went outside and shot some pictures, it looked great on camera!

Maybe I’m too late here, but I like the eyeliner in the second one better!
