Gorgeous Papery

July 31st, 2009 @ 1:22 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

We got our first RSVP back the other day! I got a little sentimental ripping open its tiny red envelope. *You’ve made it safely back to the nest tiny card.* I’ll always love that we made our invites, BUT I have seen some really beautiful suites out there and I can’t help but admire their creativity and beauty (of course ours have homemade charm right? Let’s go with charm). Here are a few that caught my eye. *All images are from the designers’ sites, unless otherwise noted.*

I spotted these on Ice Cream Social and I love this save the date idea! I am a sucker for 3D elements on invites like the tag hanging from the birds ankle. And for birds. I also may be partial to beautiful uses of grey, since it’s one of our colors. It would be a home run if I was really into the deranged San Francisco pigeons so I could have a personal connection to the pigeon. Ah well.

One more also from Ice Cream Social. The clothe pocket idea makes me want to run out and steal… err, buy a sewing machine just so I can do this for ours! And a custom tag on the side? Too cute.

Chewing the Cud has been in my ’favorite links’ tab for a while. Their letterpress invites make me salivate and this save the date hand towel - so cute. If I had a Gocco and had stolen that sewing machine, I may have had some sleepless nights making these for guests. Who doesn’t love a nice kitchen towel?

Gorgeous Papery : wedding invitations stationery Rifle

When I saw these I thought - modern PA Dutch! Seriously! Not sure if that was what she was going for, but that’s all I could think of when I saw this set by Rifle. They have that put-together homemade feel I love for casual weddings like ours.

This next designer makes beautiful and modern invites and has a blog that I love to follow. Mint designs may not have a lot to show just yet, but each new design is better than the last. This set has another thing I love … ahhh, deckled edgesss.

I had remembered seeing this suite a while back, and couldn’t believe upon my rediscovery that this couple had DIYed everything! Amazing. See what you can do with a little chutzpah (if I only knew the Presbyterian translation)? The school theme could have been perfect for us!

Or why not go all out with invitations like these, from 13 Creative? We looked into getting married in Napa, but since we didn’t also win the lottery, we decided to go with good ol’ PA. Could have stuck a nice PA wine in there though. *snobby CA snicker*

There are of course so many more talented people making beautiful invitations out there. This just goes to show you there’s definitely someone out there making a suite that will suit you. Or you can design your own, like we did! It feels good to do it yourself, it really does. But you might find yourself spending a few nights doing things like this:

You’ve been warned! :)

Do you have an favorite invitation printer/designer to share? Or maybe just a detail, like the cloth pocket or pigeon foot tag, that you have seen and loved?

I drool over gorgeous invites, too. I also console myself with the “ours were so handmade and charming” excuse lol.

If I don’t end up marrying my fiance, I’m proposing to my corner rounding punch. For serious, we’re very close, my corner rounding punch and I - been through a lot together.

I love how original and outside the box each of these invites are, in their own personal way. I love the school themed one so!

Our suite was designed on etsy (and will be printed by us) and the RSVP cards say “will be there with bells on” “will be there, sans bells” and “will not attend, regardless of bells” I LOVE IT!

Gorgeous examples! I LOVE the little tag on the fabric pouch. And for the last two weeks, I’ve been trying to think of what I can print onto a handkerchief like that Chewing the Cud example.

We just corner-rounded everything for our invites the other day. We Are Memory Keepers came out with a Corner Chomper that made it go by FAST! My FI actually came in to see what I was doing, and said, “Hey, can I do some?” Haha. He did the rest!

I love them all! Ours are going to be DIY and probably very simple (as I don’t have 100% confidence in my abilities). We’ll see though…keep posting such gorgeous examples and I might be tempted to try something crazy! I love the dish towel!

*sigh* I wish I had the time and patience (and sense of creativity) to do my own invites.
