Hair Every Which Way

July 31st, 2009 @ 6:05 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

After nearly a year of growing out my hair, it was time to find a hairdresser and do a trial. I went to PA in May and met up with two local ladies to try things out. One was Momma Sunbeam’s hairdresser, and the other a stylist who worked about 45 minutes away that I found via Craigslist.

I took an inspiration board with me since it’s much easier to explain things in pictures (the bun had been tossed aside, but is back in my folder now!).

*Images from Weddingbee (Hi Mrs. Dumpling!), and Style Me Pretty.*

Okay, my inspirations were a little all over the place. So the hairdresser just sort of let things flow from up to down. Here are some images from the more successful hair trial at the hair salon.

This one was mostly inspired by the upper right image from the inspiration board. I liked it but I think I’d want the hair in the back a little lower.

Alright let’s go half-back.

Gathered back even more…

An interesting option, but a little plain from the front…

And as she took it down, another option made its way into the picture - mostly down. Of course, it would need to be fine tuned.

Here is a shot from my hair trial the woman from Craigslist. She did a great job too, but after some thinking, I thought my girls and I could get our hair done more easily at the salon together. The curls are pretty loose with very little product, since we were trying to see if we could go from an updo to a down-do from the ceremony to the reception.

I think I need to go to the hair salon with a clearer vision next time, but I wanted to try it all out just to see.

Which hairstyle do you think I should lean towards? Are you going up, half-back, or down? Did you go into your trial with a clear vision, or did you try out all the options?

You’re hair is so pretty! My favorites are the first and last one :) I’m as big a fan of the half-up half-down one.

do hairstylists let you try all these options? They always only do one for me for $50 at my trial.

Half up is my favorite! I *think* that’s how I’m going to have mine done, too.

I like the more natural almost all down. I originally was going for half up, but I decided all down w/ pincurls & some body was the best way to pull off a vintage-y look. I also like the curly ponytail looking style.

I’m liking the last couple of styles! Though for my winter wedding, I had a chignon…

You look beautiful with all the hairstyles!
I love how romantic all the way down looks, I would go with that, if you’re worried about it getting messed up then you could go half half for a little more hold.

I like the “gathered back even more” and half-up styles… the curls around your face are so soft and pretty! I wish my hair curled well.

Wow I totally love the last one with you in the blue shirt. The loose curls are so nice.

I agree with Ms Green Apple - your hair looks beautiful down…if only we all had such full, shiny locks…

I like the updo version better. But maybe you could get it a little messier, if you know what I mean?

Mostly down, from the salon! That one is gorrrrgeous! I like that it looks natural, but still looks like you had something special done to it!
