Mrs. Mouse, Austin Age and Occupation: 25, Weddingbee Editor/Attorney Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Civil Engineer Engagement Date: December 19, 2007 Wedding Date: September 2009 Venue: Barr Mansion About Me: I just graduated from law school and will be taking the bar, getting married, going on a honeymoon with my guy, and then trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. We're planning an eco-friendly, casual, English garden affair for the end of summer, and we can't wait for it to get here!
About Mrs. Mouse

I’m back! I finished the bar exam! While I won’t know if I passed until November, I’ve got a wedding to plan in the meantime, in case you forgot. I almost did.

Before I hit the ground running on a ton of half-finished DIY projects, I’ve got some other stuff to catch you guys up on.

In an earlier post, I hinted about a shoe dilemma I was having. I blogged about my Seychelle’s, and a lot of you guys agreed they are awesome. Cute, comfy, with thicker, not-too-high heels. And they’re in a killer gray shade that’s a bit unexpected and (I like to think) high-fashion-y. I liked them way more than any other shoe I’d found up to that point, but I guess I wasn’t “in love” with them. At least not the way I’m in love with my dress. Sigh.

Anyway, when I was shopping for the Seychelle’s online, I came across a pair of Steve Madden pumps in a gorgeous nude color. I had been craving nude pumps ever since I saw someone wearing some back in March. And these were only about $60! I wanted to buy them just to have them, whether or not I ended up getting married in them. But alas, they were sold out in my size in nude.

Cut to about a month later.

I’m stress-shopping with one of my study partners (and my partner in retail crime, if you know what I mean). We decide to hit up the sale at DSW to grab some summer sandals. I automatically walk to the clearance section in the back and head for the seven-and-a-halfs. I decide to do a cursory glance at the sevens as well, just in case I find something cute I can squeeze my feet into. What do I see? There in the corner in a ratty box with a rip down one side is a pair of my beloved nude Steve Maddens in a size 7! And miraculously, the sevens fit! What could be more serendipitous than that, you ask? They were on clearance. Forty percent off. And I had two coupons. I got them for $32! I think someone must have ordered them online and returned them because there is a little bit of creasing on the top of the back part.

See how they’re the perfect shade of nude and how that glorious little ruffle matches the ruffles in my dress?

But I’m not sure if the nude is going to just blend in with my skin too much so that no one even notices how cute they are. And I sort of like how the edgier gray shoes balance out the flirty romantic sweetness of my dress. Here are the Seychelle’s again, for comparison’s sake.

Outfitting the Feet: Part III (A Dilemma) : wedding shoes Dscn00801 Blerg! I don’t know what to do! Can you guys help?

Which shoes should I wear?

I would go with the Steve Madden’s all the way! They are MUCH cuter and waaay more wedding-y.

Honestly - The Seychelle’s look (to me) like they don’t fit properly - the way the foot bed sticks out much past your toe. They look too big.

Plus - you would prob get more wear out of the Madden’s

The steve maddens are sooo cute. I know you’re into the contrast of the edgy shoes with the ruffly dress, but I think for your wedding, the ruffly shoes fit better!

I’m totally in support of the SM. The Seychelle’s are nice, but I almost think it’s too much “edge.”

I love the SM. They’re so much more soft, and perfect for a wedding!

Congrats on finishing your bar exam. I still have a few years to go before I get there, but I’ve heard it’s torture.

Very tough! I like the ruffles from the Steve Maddens, but I like the pop of color the other shoes would give you. Sorry I’m no help!

SM’s are way cuter! But they look a little tight around your feet. Are you sure they are comfy?

Both neutral colors work just fine. What are your wedding colors? Does your palette learn more toward warm or cool? Beige = warm; gray = cool.

Unless you get a mean tan, you’ll be able to see the Maddens. I think the gray ones are a tad, em…mature(?) They don’t look young enough for you. I like the ruffly ones–they match your dress! (They have a heel right? It’s hard to tell in the pic, but I think you definitely want a heel.)

I adore the steve maddens, but I just don’t think that color works well. I would keep looking!
