Two things guaranteed to excite me are wedding cakes and breaking out my suitcase to travel. Mr. Sunbeam and I are personalizing our hometown wedding to celebrate our high school sweetheart status and PA roots with a few CA touches. After ten years of dating we couldn't be more excited to call each other husband and wife!

Gorgeous Papery

July 31st, 2009 @ 1:22 pm by Mrs. Sunbeam

We got our first RSVP back the other day! I got a little sentimental ripping open its tiny red envelope. *You’ve made it safely back to the nest tiny card.* I’ll always love that we made our invites, BUT I have seen some really beautiful suites out there and I can’t help but admire their creativity and beauty (of course ours have homemade charm right? Let’s go with charm). Here are a few that caught my eye. *All images are from the designers’ sites, unless otherwise noted.*

Gorgeous Papery : wedding invitations stationery Icecrea

I spotted these on Ice Cream Social and I love this save the date idea! I am a sucker for 3D elements on invites like the tag hanging from the birds ankle. And for birds. I also may be partial to beautiful uses of grey, since it’s one of our colors. It would be a home run if I was really into the deranged San Francisco pigeons so I could have a personal connection to the pigeon. Ah well.

Project Cupcakes!

July 31st, 2009 @ 12:50 pm by Mrs. Sprinkle

Guys, I have a problem. Before I can make any decision, whether it be small or large, I feel the need to ask the opinion of every single person I know. This is bad because it just shows how little I trust myself to make the right decision.

Last week I decided I want to make my own darn wedding cupcakes. One hundred plus wedding cupcakes. I did a trial run for a coworker’s birthday and wrote down these facts:

  1. It costs me $ 0.60 to make a cupcake (including batter, frosting, wrapper, and decorative topper)
  2. It takes me less than one hour to sift, stir, scoop, bake, frost and decorate 24 cupcakes (not including baking/cooling time)
  3. It will cost us $3.50 - $5.00 per cupcake to have them made for us

By making the cupcakes myself I can save about $300, decorate them any way I want, make any flavor I want, and have fun doing it because I love baking. Sure, I have some doubts. What if my oven explodes? How do we transport them? What if I eat all of them the day before and can’t fit into my dress?! But nothing that can’t be figured out.

I still asked everyone what they thought about me taking on the cupcake challenge. Every single person said DO NOT MAKE THE CUPCAKES.

Mrs. Mouse's Picture
Mrs. Mouse, Austin Age and Occupation: 25, Weddingbee Editor/Attorney Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Civil Engineer Engagement Date: December 19, 2007 Wedding Date: September 2009 Venue: Barr Mansion About Me: I just graduated from law school and will be taking the bar, getting married, going on a honeymoon with my guy, and then trying to figure out what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. I was born and raised in a small East Texas town, but I'm no country girl! I'm obsessed with British accents, fantasy (including Harry Potter, of course), and classic rock. My fiance and I consider ourselves both music and beer snobs--but every once in awhile we love to hear a crappy band and drink a cheap brew or two. We're planning an eco-friendly, casual, English garden affair for the end of summer, and we can't wait for it to get here!
About Mrs. Mouse

I’m back! I finished the bar exam! While I won’t know if I passed until November, I’ve got a wedding to plan in the meantime, in case you forgot. I almost did.

Before I hit the ground running on a ton of half-finished DIY projects, I’ve got some other stuff to catch you guys up on.

In an earlier post, I hinted about a shoe dilemma I was having. I blogged about my Seychelle’s, and a lot of you guys agreed they are awesome. Cute, comfy, with thicker, not-too-high heels. And they’re in a killer gray shade that’s a bit unexpected and (I like to think) high-fashion-y. I liked them way more than any other shoe I’d found up to that point, but I guess I wasn’t “in love” with them. At least not the way I’m in love with my dress. Sigh.

Anyway, when I was shopping for the Seychelle’s online, I came across a pair of Steve Madden pumps in a gorgeous nude color. I had been craving nude pumps ever since I saw someone wearing some back in March. And these were only about $60! I wanted to buy them just to have them, whether or not I ended up getting married in them. But alas, they were sold out in my size in nude.

Cut to about a month later.

In my not so spare time I enjoy planning trips with Mr. D' Orsay, visiting friends and family and crafting like a mo-fo. I also enjoy modern dance classes, rugby and soccer but have been banned by my mother, MOHs, and Mr. D' Orsay from playing till after the wedding. Getting Prettified - Part 2

July 31st, 2009 @ 11:07 am by Mrs. D'orsay

With the hair part done (thanks so much, you guys rock!), it’s time to discuss the makeup part of “getting prettified”. The one thing that always surprises me about bridal makeup is how intense it is. Which makes sense, since I’ll be running around for hours in the August heat being photographed. However… on a Sunday morning… grabbing coffee after the trial? Well… perhaps that should have waited until after the church crowd had departed…

You’ve already seen my makeup inspiration photo, but probably didn’t realize it. :)

Getting Prettified - Part 2 : wedding makeup trial 21

I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.

Cheers To This!

July 31st, 2009 @ 10:31 am by Mrs. Poodle

I found this cool Etsy seller that works with glass recycled material. This is just like what I had in mind for cool, easy, eco-friendly and cheap vases for my recycled paper flowers idea.

Cheers To This! :  wedding decor diy Recycle  { Images Source (Link) }

Actually, my first “eco-friendly” plan was to cut wine bottles and make vases just like the ones Miss D’orsay made in this post.

After I told Mr. Poodle the idea, he said that we could even melt the glass and make cool shapes to add some more flavor to our centerpieces. That’s another thing erased from my list and on his! (Muaah-ha-ha!)

About Mrs. Cloud

In an attempt to regain my sanity after hitting the mother of all roadblocks, I decided to take the advice of a few fellow bees and super smart hive members. My first plan of action was to lay out what needs to be done. I love lists; I love crossing things off and feeling accomplished afterward (yeah, sometimes I write things down I already did just to cross them off. Want to fight about it?), and I always feel better when I know how far my progress is and how much further I have to go.

My brilliant solution? This bad boy is now proudly hanging on a door in our office (it’s okay if you laugh, Mr. Cloud did, a LOT).

Project: Tablescape Trial Run!

July 30th, 2009 @ 4:41 pm by Mrs. Sprinkle

A few short months ago I was really, really struggling to make all the elements of this wedding come together. I had so many ideas, so much inspiration, but none of it fit. It just seemed like a really bad combination of really good ideas. Mr. Sprinkle and I talked it over many times, and pinpointed what we wanted our wedding to feel like to us, to our family, to our friends.

We want it to feel like home. Classy, fancy (yet casual, not stuffy) home! We want it to be the wedding we would have at our own home, if our own home could hold one hundred people (because if our home could hold 100 people, it would be here!). And now that we have that idea in mind with every decision we make, it does feel like everything was meant to be. It is all working out. We may not have a real “wedding theme” but take the idea of home, throw in some grey and mustard, a touch of vintage rock, and a lot of love and happiness (I never said I wasn’t cheesy), and you have our wedding theme!

That said, it is still hard when I see a great wedding like this. Hands down the best bouquet I have ever seen. Grey and yellow? Wonderful. Palm Springs pool party?! So fun. Even though I love what we are brewing, I still have pangs of wedding lust.
