Although
I am an engineer by day, I feed my inner creative side through crafting, sewing, and obsessing over Martha Stewart. I love coffee, my mister, NPR, and exploring all the nooks and crannies of Austin.
I can't wait to share my adventures in DIY and wedding planning with all of you!
We’ve decided on our wedding cake (yes… there will be a post on this soon), but in the South, the groom usually has a cake, too. From my experience, the groom’s cake is usually chocolate… but Mr. Beagle hates chocolate.

Mrs. Stiletto, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 26, Non-Profit/FundraisingFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Engineer and PhotographerEngagement Date: March 2, 2008Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: The 19th Century ClubAbout Me: My fiance and I love living in the city of Chicago with our cats Basil and Linus, and vow to never move to the suburbs if we can possibly avoid it! We’ve poured ourselves into planning a wedding that reflects our personal style - modern and high contrast with a vintage twist. Blogging keeps me creative, baking keeps me happy, and grande nonfat no foam sugar free vanilla lattes keep me sane.
Wouldn’t it be a sign of the times if the reader at your ceremony got up there with his or her Kindle in hand? While I don’t anticipate that happening at our wedding, it would definitely make me chuckle. And, it would most definitely put a modern twist on the proceedings… don’t worry, we’re not going to take things quite that far! Read more…
Mrs. Poodle, Santiago, Chile/San Bernardino, CAAge and Occupation: 27, Industrial & Web DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain PatrolEngagement Date: February 25, 2009Wedding Date: January 2010Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ RanchAbout Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
Do you remember when Mrs. Lemon showed us all how to make an inspiration board the really easy way and then the Photoshop way? Well, I love when you can do things really easily, but it was so hard for me to find the images I loved in the color I wanted, that I knew Photoshop was the way to go.
As always, I wanted to share this little experience with all of you and show you the basic tools you can use to play with and create your own custom inspiration board!
Mrs. Swan, New York CityAge and Occupation: 31, Legislative RepresentativeFiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Finance GuyEngagement Date: August 9, 2008Wedding Date: August 2009Venue: Battery GardensAbout Me: I am an un-crafty but resourceful, Caribbean-born but New York-raised woman who's been known to analyze "Dancing with the Stars" and “So You Think You Can Dance”, buy stinky cheese, and use way too many parentheses. I keep lists for fun, am constantly daydreaming of my next international travel adventure (four continents down, three to go), debating sports (let’s Got Mets/Giants!) and dancing around my apartment to stay sane. I am excited to share our wedding planning journey as I hope to plan a streamlined, personal, and fun wedding with the greatest life partner I could ever imagine, Mr. Swan.
We’d relaxed at the spa, ate good food, and then we proceeded to partake in the ever popular dance portion of the bachelorette party. You all know I love to dance, so I didn’t mind this part of the evening at all except for the fact that we were all yawning by the end of dinner. I guess this is what happens when you reach the 30+ age range? We definitely joked about the fact that we were all little shells of our former partying selves to some extent. Therefore, the car ride over to Williamsburg, Brooklyn consisted of opening windows for some fresh air to keep us awake and calling each other out for yawning.
Of course, by the time we got to Bembe in Williamsburg and the music hit us, were were okay. Bembe primarily plays a mix of Latin music (I guess we had to keep the Latin theme running) so there was steady mix of salsa, samba and merengue with some dance classics thrown in for good measure. I have not been out dancing in a LOOONNNGG time, but somehow remembered how to dance.
Mrs. Lollipop, PittsburghAge and Occupation: 26, Computational LinguistFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Project ManagerEngagement Date: August 2, 2006Wedding Date: September 2, 2007Blogging Since: July 17, 2007Venue: The PPG Aquarium at the Pittsburgh ZooAbout Me: I'm a Pittsburgh transplant who grew up in the deep south. I have a weakness for exotic alphabets, DIY projects, mobster movies and international travel. My fiance and I are both non-native Japanese speakers and we have a bullfrog named Skinny.
When I’m working on other people’s weddings, sometimes I have to stop and remind myself that it’s not my wedding. Case in point: the vases above. The mother of the bride purchased about 8 narrow glass vases and a handful of silk roses, one or two per vase. She wanted them to be the centerpieces for each table.
My oldest brother-in-law (again, not the one getting married) and I both looked at them and hated them instantly, mostly because we both have black, black Martha Stewart hearts. Read more…
Mrs. Sunbeam, San Francisco/Grove City, PAAge and Occupation: 26, Grad Student & Office ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Motion DesignerEngagement Date: May 10, 2008Wedding Date: September 2009Venue: Harbison Chapel & The Maple Lane FarmAbout Me: Mr. Sunbeam and I are high school sweethearts. We both come from a small town in PA but are growing to love the California lifestyle. He loves wine and I love cheese... the perfect combination! When I'm not drooling over wedding blogs, I'm attending grad school, out being a foodie, or attempting to "walk" our cat at the park. Two things guaranteed to excite me are wedding cakes and breaking out my suitcase to travel. Mr. Sunbeam and I are personalizing our hometown wedding to celebrate our high school sweetheart status and PA roots with a few CA touches. After ten years of dating we couldn't be more excited to call each other husband and wife!
Well gang, it’s a big day for the Sunbeams! Today we will celebrate 10 years of dating. I know, we can hardly believe it too. It’s a great number to end our years of dating as we move on to wedding anniversaries. Thanks to all our friends and family for supporting us as we struggled with love, long distance and just plain growing up. Here’s a real quick look back at the many years of us.

Engagement Date: December 31, 2008Wedding Date: November 2009Venue: Whitfield Square/Savannah StationAbout Me: I'm working on my second degree from UGA (Go Dawgs!). I'm a self-proclaimed attention-w****. If it involves a camera, I'm in front of it! You'll never meet a girlier tomboy than me. I can go toe to toe with any guy on the subject of college football, and lift more than any girl in my gym, all without chipping a nail. I hope to someday be the only person you want delivering your sports news. My FI and I are the loving parents of three Labrador Retrievers (one of each color) and are planning a "Southern Romantic Charm" wedding in the beautiful, historic city of Savannah. I'm not extreme in anything except moderation... and wedding planning.
To make matters worse, Mr. Lab and I have been fighting. And it’s about something that we should not even be arguing about: the “need” for a wedding cinematographer.
It’s a long story and I won’t get into the specifics. We’ve finally come to a compromise and I don’t want to open up any fresh wounds. But boy was it exhausting. He basically didn’t see any reason to have a wedding film made, no matter the cost, because he—along with the backup of some of his recently married guy friends—felt like the film would never be viewed; thus, making it worthless.
To me, having a wedding cinematographer ranks up in the top 3 most important things to have on the day of the wedding. Read more…

The glyph discussion is not new on Weddingbee. I was personally first introduced to them by Mrs. Licorice here, and ever since, have been smitten. But I thought I’d bring it up again now that I’m fresh off of finishing my friend Robin’s invites!
If you’re unfamiliar with the glyph palette, then here’s a quick layman’s rundown. There are certain fonts out there that allow you to “manipulate” certain (or all) of the letters in the alphabet, to create a customized look for your words. The result is a really custom look for any set of letter combinations, that can be switched up to create a variety of different looks for the same word. A better definition of the glyph palette is here. So, for instance, using the font Burgues Script and the word “Penguin”, you can get the word to look different, tens of times over if you’d like:
Mrs. Apple Cider, New York/CharlotteAge and Occupation: 27, Corporate Communications ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Grad Student – Clinical Mental Health Engagement Date: September 13, 2008Wedding Date: October 2009Venue: Banner Elk Winery & Blueberry VillaAbout Me: I am a North Carolina girl with a New York City spirit. I love crafting, blogging, laughing and dreaming. I know every word to the Anne of Green Gables and Little Women movies. I own every single Martha Stewart Wedding Magazine and have been dreaming of weddings since I was little. I believe life is about doing what makes you happy. If you aren't happy re-evaluate what you are doing. You should never look back on your life and not be proud of what you are doing. If you want to travel - travel. If you want to sing - sing. If you want to start a company - start a company. If you want to blog – blog!
This weekend was not only my first wedding shower for myself but the first wedding shower that I have ever attended! Surprising right?! I have been in a lot of weddings, but living far from North Carolina I have never been able to attend the showers.
(Mr. AC’s mom arranged for our name to be on the church marquee, it was SOOO cool seeing our name up there)
I must admit that I was a little nervous. I am not a very “girly girl” and I don’t really like being the center of attention, but I embraced it and it was super fun! Read more…

I’m having a blast planning our elegant/dramatic/New York City/acting-themed/largely-DIY wedding and am thrilled to be the youngest current Miss Blogger!
You might remember my post about the first part of my veil saga where I told you all how I made my own birdcage veil. If you don’t, that’s okay. It was so long ago! It took me a bit longer than anticipated to finish my second veil, so you’ll have to excuse the gap between parts one and two of this story!
Anyways, I promised I’d show you a picture of me wearing the birdcage that I made:
I’m still working on the placement, which makes a shockingly big difference in how the veil looks. I’m thinking I might need to bobby pin it to my head in a place or two, as well.
I also showed you the vintage French lace that I bought from Etsy in my post about my somethings. As it turns out, hand stitching that lace to the bottom of my veil took several weeks of painstaking effort. But I’m very pleased with the end result! Read more…

The Moshulu really “made” our wedding. We weren’t too keen on having a “ballroom” wedding, but were overwhelmed by the work of a “tent” wedding. The Moshulu is a great restaurant with a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces.
Miss Candy Corn, PhiladelphiaAge and Occupation: 27, Freelance Writer, Photographer and IllustratorFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Front End Web DeveloperBlogging Since: May 6, 2008Engagement Date: November 10, 2011Wedding Date: September 2012Venue: Our backyard!About Me: I’m a 27-year-old photographer, writer and illustrator who enjoys shooting weddings, catching typos in magazines, geeking out with Google Reader, watching Wonder Years marathons with my fiancé, and hanging out with our menagerie of pets. I’m an encore bride planning an intimate, offbeat backyard wedding with my fiancé (known around these parts as “The Ginger”), as we explore our adventures of homeownership.
Although we’ve only been married for a little over nine months, I’ve noticed that being a wife also means being thrown into a culture obsessed with babies. There’s a lot of pressure to pull off parenthood while trying to juggle married life and a career. Not to mention trying to be able to afford a house somewhere in the mix (since that’s the next “step”, after all).
I think that too many newly married couples believe they need to have a child to complete that next phase in their relationship, while not really paying attention to whether or not they are doing what’s best for the child. I don’t think that’s the way it is in the hive, but out here in the non-bee world I am seeing this happening more often than not. Read more…
