So far, I’ve shown you a lot of my little DIY projects and talked a lot about where our wedding will be, why it is the way it is, and what we’re going through emotionally. But you haven’t seen a lot of what I’ll be wearing besides my shoes. And since the bride’s outfit is always one of my favorite parts of any wedding I attend, I figured I’d start showing you some attire details!

For now, my something old is another Etsy purchase. I bought this vintage French lace to use on my second veil (so this is a *sneak peek* because I’m not finished with it yet!) and it was a steal at just a couple of dollars a yard.

After skimming Wanna Buy a Watch’s shelves and trying numerous rings on (some in my budget, some not), there was one that I just kept coming back to. She fit me perfectly (even better than my e-ring, which has been re-sized three times). She was also a tad bit thinner than my engagement ring but had the same length “spread” of diamonds in the channel. The price tag for this beauty? $895.
I explained that my budget was $300 to the sales lady. I explained it sheepishly, I admit. Then I left. I thought about that ring a lot. It was platinum with milgrain, and nine channel-set diamonds equaling .22 carats of bling. Plus an inscription that’s from 1907: “From BRP to WK.”
A few days later, I went back to the store and told Christine, the salesperson, that I wanted it. But that the price just wasn’t going to work for me. She said she’d have to talk to the owner (who was in Hawaii for the week) and would call me. I left, ring-less.
Then, I had my bridal shower. My step-grandmother, who won’t be able to make it to the wedding, gave me a very generous amount of money as a gift.
A couple of days later, I got a call from Christine. She said they could bring the price down to $600. From there, the negotiations started and we went back and forth.

As Mr. Deviled Egg and I move through the home purchasing process, it’s a given that I am getting increasingly excited about owning a place we will call our home. I think most of my excitement comes from finally having a place where I… er, we… can do whatever we want as far as painting and decorating. We can really make this place ours!
I’m also excited over the little things that come with home ownership. One little thing is that we will have an address. No, having an address isn’t anything new to me and no, I haven’t been living out of my car for a few years. I’m excited that we will have a permanent address. All through college my address changed yearly. My mom would buy me cute address labels only to have most of them go to waste at the end of the year when I got new address in the fall. When our wedding was up and coming, our living situation was up in the air, leaving us with no permanent address to be found.
Now, as we embark on this new adventure in a new home, I’m excited that I get to order something like this:

A custom address stamp, like this one from Etsy seller lovetocreatestamps.

Mr. Bear Cub and I have been busying ourselves with quite a lot of wedding tasks recently—one of which is dance lessons! We’re making some headway on our fancy footwork, but I’ll save the details for another post. Right now, our lovely dance instructor is helping us choreograph our first dance. You need a song to be able to choreograph, so we’ve been pondering the “first dance” song pretty heavily!
Last weekend when while Mr. Cubbie and I were on a 10-mile run (marathon training full steam ahead!), one of my favorite songs played in my iPod.
The song, Somebody Loved, is by The Weepies. Even though their name is a bit of a downer, they play some of the happiest, upbeat music ever! It’s great running music! This song is one of their slower ones, but I think it’s so beautiful. If you have a minute, you should read the lyrics along with the song (linked here).
A few weeks ago I attended what could possibly be described as one of the most fun days of my life. I wore a pretty dress, and so many of my friends were there. There was delicious food and drinks, and it was at one of my favorite homes in all of Maryland (MOH MB’s mother’s house).
Although it was supposed to be a surprise, as with most surprises, I ruined it. I have a horrible tendency to ruin surprises, and it doesn’t matter if they’re planned for me, by me, or I’m just invited - they get ruined. If you want anything to be a surprise, keep me far away from it. On the plus side, I showered and looked nice for the “surprise” shower. On the negative? I ruined all the hard work MOH MB had put in trying to keep it a surprise.
Even though it had been raining the whole week, the skies cleared so we could have drinks in the garden before heading inside for food and presents. Before we could open the gifts however, I had to answer a few questions about Mr. D. For each incorrect answer, I had to chew a piece of Bazooka Joe bubble gum. What didn’t help in this little game is that Mr. D straight up answered questions to fool me. He doesn’t actually have a favorite color, but told MOH MB that it was “light green”. When asked the question, “What was his longest drive?” I answered New Orleans, LA to Orlando, FL—our first road trip together. Mr. D’s answer? Heysham Golf Course, 295 yards, par 5. Sooo funny.

Can you see the fear? So, with a huge mouthful of chewing gum I tried to soldier on, but being on the spot had worked me into a bit of a tizzy. I found myself uncomfortably hot and sweaty, and nervous!

Confession: Another reason I wanted to get married on July 4th was because I wanted to be the same age as Mr Frenchie when we got married.

Back when I used to plan out my life, I planned to get married when I was 26. That way, Sister Frenchie would be 21 and be able to participate in all the bachelorette activities. Good reason, right? Well, at 26 I broke up with my a$$hole ex-boyfriend and met the love of my life, Mr Frenchie.

I’ve been working on the table numbers/menu/after party cards (which I’m calling thingies) for days. DAYS. You’d think it would be easy, but it’s not. Well, it’s not hard, but it is very time consuming. Because of the number and size of our tables, I need about 40 table thingies done.
The cutting took hours, and I watched all of the movie Milk and only got 17 thingies put together. I’m not even halfway there.
I did learn a few things, though. Even though the idea seemed simple, the execution took a long time (cutting and taping). I also learned that double-stick tape was my best bet. Glue made the edges look wrinkled, even when it dried. I tried Elmer’s white glue, glue stick, and rubber cement, but the pricier tape looked best.
I also played around a bit with the look. In my last post about the table thingies, I mentioned the numbers seemed to need something. I tried painting the edges with yellow paint and I tried creating a base with Fimo clay.
Get ready for some gorgeous photos!!! I have to say that I was so excited when one of my old friends from college asked me to do the desserts for her wedding. To make it even better she introduced me to Jesi, of Jesi Haack Weddings, who planned the whole wedding and design! Since the day we met Jesi and I have hit it off, and I absolutely love spending any time I can with her. She is a fabulous job with every detail of this wedding and really carried Kayli and Darren’s wedding design to the next level!
I was so excited when I got to the venue and saw the incredible backdrop Jesi created for my desserts! I can’t thank her enough! Not only was I blessed with an amazing planner for this wedding, but the photographer is one of my favorites! Aaron Shintaku, from Aaron Shintaku Photography, captured these fantastic images and literally left me speechless when I first saw them. Congratulations to Kayli and Darren…may your marriage be greatly blessed!

I absolutely love creating full dessert bars that incorporate the wedding cake and mini desserts into a fully designed table. Thanks to Jesi for the real tree stumps, handmade backdrop, and table runner! For the cake we used billy button flowers as the main accent to the fun bird topper they wanted for the cake.
Yesterday, Mary Jane talked about the the Big ’D’- well I’m going to talk about my personal evil - the big ’B’… the budget.
Do I have one? Yes.
Do I follow it? Not really.
Will I put myself in debt? Nope.
Does that make it okay to spend, spend, spend? Jury’s still out on that one…
When Mr. Gloss and I first started discussing the wedding we said, it would be crazy to spend more than $12K on a wedding.

We did it… we finally registered and we felt like huge jerks. I wish registering felt better than it did. EVERYTHING IS SO EXPENSIVE! Living in NYC has given us a different view on life. Everything is expensive… our rent, our food. Neither one of us was that excited about registering. I am not sure why. Maybe it is that it is hard to imagine what we will need. Or maybe it is that we have a tiny apartment that we are moving into and it is hard to imagine it full of stuff.
Our first stop was Williams-Sonoma, and wow, was that place overwhelming. The one bright spot was the lady that helped us. She was super friendly and gave us great advice. Once we got started though, we felt sort of out of place and I just couldn’t bring myself to ask guests to get us a $500 pot. I just couldn’t do it.
Maddiegirl is selling her size 6 Cara Mia wedding dress. The dress is brand new with the tags still attached. She is asking $450 OBO.

Recently, Miss Bruschetta and Mrs. Kitten blogged about the “rice toss”.
I don’t know if anyone’s ever done it before, but today I was thinking about how cool it would be for a daytime spring wedding if everyone were to blow dandelions at the bride and groom as they made their getaway.
Just an idea. Anyone out there seen any other cool ideas for the bride and groom send-off?
This weekend, I’m going to experience some very happy wedding deja vu. My Bride$hare buddy is getting married, and Mr. Meatball and I are thrilled to go back to the Bungalow Club for the first time since our wedding 6 weeks ago, and enjoy some of our decor, drink delicious mojitos, and dance our faces off, for the 2nd time around.
These are the fateful paper lanterns that spawned the whole idea! (Photo by Dan Chen)
Way back when, Rebecca saw a blog post of mine lamenting the desire for paper lanterns to spruce up the space at our venue, and she contacted me to suggest we go in on them together and share them. That was just the beginning.
