I Can't Even Cut Paper Correctly... : wedding diy Scissor

(source)

… but Mr. Swan can!!! :) As you all may notice from my posts I am not the DIY Queen around these parts; however, I discovered that Mr. Swan is pretty darn crafty!

We had this very, very basic thing we needed to get done that would technically require me to flex my crafty skills. Let’s just say that the project won, and I sulked back into my little corner.

The next thing I knew, Mr. Swan whipped out some scissors and away he went. Voila! I think it comes from years of art projects for fun (FMIL Swan was an art teacher for many years). Perhaps there is a Martha Stewart lurking inside of him!

This little project isn’t the only aspect of the wedding that Mr. Swan has played a very helpful role in. I’ve depended on his handy dandy Excel spreadsheets, his phone calls, haggling, and words of support. He’s definitely stepped it up in the last month and a half. While the wedding is really the product of primarily my vision, Mr. Swan has definitely handled a lot of tiny details. I am so appreciative of his help.

How involved has your fiance been in the wedding planning? Do you wish your fiance was more involved… or less? :)

Oh man. I suck so much at cutting things. I’m a lefty, so it’s like i was born to fail. Hurray for paper cutters! (and helpful fiancees!).

Mr. DG did so much of our stuff… He was instrumental on the invitations and cut all of our paper! On the other hand, when it came to wrapping presents, writing anything or design, I was our girl.

Hurray for great collaborations!

being 2,200 miles apart and my hubs being in grad school during out engagement, he stayed very uninvolved in the DIY details of the wedding. But it must be nice to have the capable helpt!

Mr Frenchie’s craftiness surprised me with all he’s been able to be involved in. I feel badly that I underestimated his craftiness.

I love, *love*, LOVE how involved FI is on our wedding. It was a little shaky at first, me taking the “traditional” role of planning everything in my head with MY total vision (I mean, I am the BRIDE, right?), but after less than a month, FI made it sweetly, but adamantly, clear that this is “his wedding, too”. Now, everything (vision, Excel sheets, thoughts on dress & decor, EVERYTHING) is pretty much 50/50. Very non-tradtional, yet very us.

Mr. Taffy is crazy good at paper related projects, so he wrapped all of our bridal party and family gifts. It was a huge last minute help!

My lefty fiance seems to be missing the crafty bone. He is very good at helping though - like purchasing the fancy paper cutter since he couldn’t help, and running to the store when we ran out of wine while doing the invitations. Better that than nothing, right.

We nicknamed my husband “groomzilla.” Not really though-he helped out more than most grooms (well not Bee grooms) I’ll bet. He ironed initials on hankies, he wrapped gifts, he made centerpieces w/ the best man–WISH I had a pic, & the list goes on!

Mr. Poodle really wants to help but he can’t really do much until I get to California (OK maybe I want to check on his process that’s why he hasn’t started)

GO Mr. Swan!! :)

Nice, isn’t it great when your man can do what you can’t? ;) My hubby was by my side for pretty much everything, he’s the best!

My man is not really helping except he picked out first dance song :) I don’t mind because I am not working full time at the moment, because I’m planning from abroad for my home town wedding, and also because I’m a bit of a control freak… to be quite honest. :-O

Mine is definitely not involved…AT ALL.. and he loves it that way!
I honestly don’t mind it either. I’ll show him things sometimes that I come up with, but I’ve come to realize he doesn’t really mind one way or another so I just keep moving along, doing what I want =]

That is adorable! I’m sure that the FI will be involved in my DIY goodness at some point…but probably not anything that is considered “girly” Haha!
