About Mrs. Cloud

I now have a large and in charge to do list, so I figured I should also explain how I am getting organized in other ways, as well. When we got engaged I was overwhelmed with ideas that I was pulling from magazines and printing off of my favorite blogs and websites. I needed a system to organize everything, and one day I came across Brooklyn Bride’s explanation of her own wedding binders. It was just what I needed and I already had most of supplies stashed away in my office, just waiting to be used.

I did take the opportunity to buy my very first Russell+Hazel binder.

I went with the Signature Three-Ring so I could really set it up the way that would be the most efficient for me, but they now also offer a wedding organizer that comes with a lot of goodies to get you started. I have to say no matter which you pick, once you use of these binders you will never go back. The little rubber strap they come with really helps to hold everything in when your ideas start bursting out and the colors options aren’t too shabby either!

In the front are the business cards of all vendors we have signed with and are using. After that I filled this bad boy up with page protectors to easily slide pages in an out without having to use a hole punch on everything, and sorted those with extra wide tabs to peek out. The tabs have been changed a few times over the months, to accommodate what I need, but in the end I have thirteen sections:

  • Ceremony
  • Reception
  • Save the Dates
  • Invitations
  • Attendants
  • Rehearsal
  • Cake
  • Dress
  • Accommodations
  • Flowers
  • Favors
  • DJ
  • Miscellaneous

While each section started with lots of ideas, I have added and removed a lot of things and they now also have contracts and notes from meetings with various vendors. I have dragged this with me to every major vendor meeting so I have everything I need right at my finger tips. Catering manager needs to know when other vendors will arrive to set up? I’ve got the contracts right there to know.

I love my binder, but it is not practical to carry around with me every day. Instead I carry one or two little notebooks. One is larger then the other for meetings with my planner, or for when I know I will have time on my lunch break to write out some things I have been working on. The smaller is always in my purse. Sometimes I have a strange epiphany while at work, or in the grocery store, or even in the car about some random task I had forgotten about. A small notebook is a lifesaver when you have a terrible memory like I do!

Haha, I have a binder, but it’s sort of a disaster zone right now. Everything’s IN there, just not nearly as organized as you have yours!

Ditto Miss Bruschetta! I have an organizer, but, alas, it’s not very organized. That was supposed to be on of my to-dos for this past weekend…slipped through the cracks. D’oh! Maybe sometime this week! Yours looks great! A well organized tool like that makes me feel so put together :-)

I am TOTALLY doing this when I get home! I think all I need is to get a binder, and I already have everything else.

I had an amazingly similar set of tabs, but in a giant notebook that everybody laughed at! People would comment that I was so organized, but I SO wasn’t. YOU are organized–your giant to-do list was HI-larious, but I see what you’re saying about it being calming to have your tasks set out in front of you. I had something like 56 tasks to do the month of the wedding, & I think like 54 or 55 got done! Btw, your handwriting is awesome! (Where’s your little notebook from–I have looking for something like that for my purse!)

I have an expanding binder but you would definitely not think it’s organized by the looks of it and my notes are much more illegible!

HA! I noticed your “Sweet Tea Firefly” note in the bigger notebook— Sweet Tea Vodka is my summer obsession!! SOOO good! You have GREAT taste! :)

And Eileen– I think that’s a mini moleskin. They come in 3-packs and I have one in my purse, car and lap-top case! LOVE em!

I have an accordion binder I use. It’s been really handy in staying organized. I think I need a business card page like you have though!

I use a binder and I use that ‘brides book of lists’ book when I meet with vendors, to help me remember what questions to ask. I want a pretty binder, though. Mine’s just a matte black one.

Sounds like me. I have a wedding binder organizer, a note book and I fully take advantage of Google documents so I can update where ever I have a computer!

Just like me! I bought a wedding binder, filled it to the rim and now I have to get either more dividers or upgrade my binder.
The note books are a great idea!

I love your notebook! I’m obsessed with organization, I simply cannot resist anything that claims to help organize some part of my life! The first wedding related thing I did was go out and buy a notebook and supplies. I can already tell that I’ll be headed to the office store tomorrow to get some of those business card sheets you have!
