I Need a Clone or a Way to Teleport : wedding emotional Cwb Bri

Source

The last few years have been filled with the weddings of our friends. It just seems to be that time in life. At each wedding, it is so fun to catch up with friends and celebrate a couple that we are blessed to have in our lives. Recently one of my MOHs got engaged. I was thrilled for her! She told me to save the first weekend in October for her wedding, since they were going to have a short engagement. I’m so excited! We’ve known each other since high school and it’s amazing to see how much we have been though together. Not to mention, I had someone to share my mountain of wedding magazines and must-read blog list with!

Well, a week later, Mr. Ducky’s best man also got engaged! And he was also planning a short engagement to be married sometime in the fall. Woo hoo! Two weddings! Mr. Ducky’s BM went to high school with him and we all went to the same college so we have a lot of mutual friends. Yeah for a reunion plus a wedding! Well, imagine our surprise when he also picked the first weekend in October to be married, as well. And thus, why I need a clone or a way to teleport magically.

Since neither of those are possible, we are going to have to split up.

So, a few weeks after we return from the honeymoon Mr. Ducky will be flying off to Colorado and I’ll be driving down to San Diego for the wedding. Obviously, we are sooo happy for both our MOH and BM. It’s just a bummer that we can’t be there to support each other’s best friends and their marriages since we’ve gotten close to each couple. They’ve done so much for us, I wish we could both be at each of their weddings and celebrate them in the same way they are doing for us. There’s also a part of me that is just slightly bummed that first wedding I’ll attend after getting married, I’ll be attending solo. I know we will each have a wonderful time at the different weddings, as both weddings will be filled with close friends and lots of love and laughter. I just wish there was a way to do both. But hey, you can’t do everything, right?

Have you and your significant other had to split up at weddings due to multiple invitations?

We haven’t had to — yet. It’s so sweet of you and Mr. Ducky to each be there for your friends at their upcoming weddings!

I was worried this would happen to us. We have 4 weddings within 7 weeks of each other, I kept praying none overlapped. We got lucky.

That is a bummer, but since it’s both of your best friensd, I’m sure you’ll both still ahve a blast! :)

Aw, that is really nice of you and Mr. Duckling to be willing to part to attend both weddings! They are lucky to have you!

Yep, we’ve had to! And I also have to attend a lot of weddings alone since FI is a surgical resident with zero control over his schedule : (

Though I’d much prefer to attend together, I’ve gotten used to attending on my own.

The Dude and I had to do the wedding split-up back in November. I was bummed that he didn’t get to come to my friend’s wedding and that I didn’t get to go to his friend’s wedding.

My husband and I are both members of a wedding party next June 18th in VA and now we were just invited to our other friend’s wedding on the 19th in TX. We’re going to attempt to do both. Should make for a whirlwind wedding weekend! =)

We’re not splitting for a wedding, but his annual camping trip is next weekend, so though we will have been married for 3 weeks, he’s going camping with the boys and I have to work.

Attending on your own can be really fun though!

This happened to me as well, but with a much better outcome. A good friend of mine from college and my FI’s best man both got married on the same day this past June. Luck was on our side, though because they happened to have their receptions in the exact same place and were even in side-by-side rooms! We went to the ceremonies separately but were able to mingle back and forth between the two parties all night.

Sometimes this happens… unfortunately it’s often a pre-cursor for future events… family traditions, kids sports (one has a recital the other has a game and the niece has religious ceremony simultaneously,) holidays, friends and work “must-attends.” In our over-scheduled worlds, it is just un-avoidable at times.

that’s sad. we haven’t had to split up, but two of our groomsmen’s partners (one wife and one fiance) and my cousin’s girlfriend had to miss our wedding because of conflicting weddings.

We picked on of the busiest wedding weekends of the year though, without realizing it!

That’s kind of a bummer that you can’t be there together. I do think it’s nice that you’re going to be able to attend both weddings. I think your friends will appreciate it.

My FI works with athletics, mainly college football. I was so lucky when my cousin and his FI picked an away game weekend, otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to join. In my family, everyone jokes that Saturdays in the fall is for college football…

@starburst: what are the odds!

i hope that won’t happen to us- FI is 4 years older than me so he’s one of the last of his friends to get married while I’m one of the first of mine. But if it does, we’ll just roll with it. :) It is what it is, right?

Yes - I was throwing a bridal shower for my MOH, back when she was the bride and I was the MOH - and our moms had already bought plane tickets… and then I got serious with my FI, and his brother’s wedding was the same day in another state, and he was the best man.

Yeah, we had to do this just recently. I’d rather have been able to go to both weddings together, but at least ours were in the same city so we didn’t have to travel separately.

Awe what a bummer, but CONGRATS to your friends!
I just wanted to give you props for going to the weddings separately and not picking one to go to. A good friend of mine wont be attending our wedding b/c her husband BF is getting married on the same day :( To be honest I’m a little pissed that the other wedding won.

That is a bummer. One of my friends got married the same weekend the groom in another friend’s wedding was having his bacholor party weekend at the lake. I went to the wedding and FI went to the lake.

Aww what a bummer for you, even though it’s so wonderful for your friends. We’ve luckily not run into such a situation yet, and knock on wood, hopefully we never do.

I”ve only been to 2 weddings in my life,a nd they were both family. FI’s been to his sisters and that’s it. We’re the first out of all our friends to get married, or even engaged for that matter. I assume it will happen in a few years, but I’m not rushing it since we can’t really afford weddings right now!

We haven’t had to yet…but my family and I will be doing that next summer. My bridesmaid that I’ve known since birth is getting married in WI and then a month later my cousin got engaged and picked the same day!! In Kentucky! It’ll be a haul to get there from MN so my fiance (will be hubbie at the timee!!) and I are going to my bridesmaid’s and the rest of the fam is going to my cousins. Sucks to have to choose but with his football coaching schedule it will probably be hard to get away for more than a couple days.
