About Mrs. Stiletto

Messages in the Mail

August 5th, 2009 @ 5:34 pm by Mrs. Stiletto

I was so excited to mail our invitations a couple of weeks back, and starting the day after we sent them, we’ve received two response cards each day! I love seeing those little envelopes show up in the mail… and, our guests have really gotten into the Madlibs aspect of our response cards, so we’ve had some fun responses.

I thought I’d share some of the standout cards… the last line of the card says:

Don’t forget to ________ [advice] after you _______[advice]!

In retrospect, we wish we had set up our cards differently so that everyone would fill this out, regardless of whether or not they’re attending (right now, this is for those who can’t make it). Fortunately, our guests are having fun filling this line out whether or not they’re attending!

Card #1 - Life Advice

From my dad’s cousin and his wife - “Don’t forget to brush your teeth after every meal!” Sound advice if you ask me!

Card #2 - Financial Advice

From my dad’s friend who cannot make the wedding and enclosed a check with his response card - “Don’t forget to cash check after the wedding quickly!” Duly noted.

Card #3 - Relationship Advice

From Melanie and Joe, our good friends (Joe is an usher in the wedding) - “Don’t forget to consummate your marriage after the wedding I dos.” Umm, we’ll work on that one… is that built into the timeline?!

We’ve had a lot of other fun cards about eating our cake, saving room for dessert, relaxing the day after, etc. So great!

Our guests who are attending get to fill in the line that they will be ready to _______ [verb] with us…party, get crunk and celebrate are the most common for this line.

Even though we didn’t set the card up perfectly, we’re so glad we made the RSVPs interactive and I think it will be so much fun to look back on these after we have them all and then do something special with the funny ones!

Did your RSVP cards have a twist to them?

How fun! I thought this was such a cool idea to really encourage people to write something fun for your RSVPs - it’s so cool that they are following through, too!!

Cute idea! We asked for advice to be written on the reverse of our RSVPs. So far only about 1/3 of our 12 RSVPs have anything written on them, but the ones that do are pretty fun!

Fun! We left one line blank, with the MadLib-like instruction of (Exclamation) beneath it. We’ve gotten everything from “Can’t wait!” to, um, things I can’t post here.

I love this idea! Anyway to get the guests more active in the wedding! Our RSVP is just the traditional type, but now I have to re-think it! I may be stealing this idea! Hope you don’t mind!

I’m so glad yours turned out well!! I too did the Mad Lib RSVP. We just sent out our invitations this week, and I’m a bit apprehensive about our guests’ responses! I hope ours will be as fun as yours!!

How fun :)
Our RSVPs didn’t have a fun place to write anything, but we had a space at the bottom for ppl to specify any food allergies and a lot of ppl have written us notes there.

Love your replies-such a cute idea! We had pretty straightforward reply cards, but you mentioning whether consummating the marriage would be on the time-line made me remember something that my husband put on our master time-line that EVERYONE saw! (shockingly he did not include “consummating the marriage”). Behold: “Eileen’s bikini wax-9AM”. His mother called that morning to ask how it went. Nice.

What a fun idea!

We added a space for people to answer “what song will get you on the dance floor?” and I can’t wait till the responses start pouring in!

That’s really cool! So far not too many of my RSVPs have had interesting responses. That would make it even more fun! (I already get excited when the mail comes every day so I can see how many RSVPs we’ve gotten!)

I wouldn’t call ours a twist, but we had a line for people to add any well wishes or anything. It was funny, though, because it just left everyone confused, lol.

This is a good way of getting to know the personalities of family members you haven’t had the opportunity to meet yet…even if it’s just a couple of words!

@eileen marie: HA! :)

@Miss Mouse: I practically race home to get the mail and beat Mr. S to it…he doesn’t get nearly excited as me! But no matter what we NEVER get more than 2 RSVPS a day…I think the mailman is holding out on me.
