T-10 and Counting: The Final Exam

August 5th, 2009 @ 1:53 pm by Mrs. Gloss

I feel like I’m back in school again – I paid attention all semester and completed assignments on time, yet I still find myself cramming for the final… I mean, the wedding. I’m not dreading it, I’m excited – I know I’m prepared; but I can’t stop studying. And by studying, I mean planning/preparing/DIYing, because I know I can ACE this bad boy. Mr. Gloss, on the other hand, is totally fine taking a ‘C’ I think – he’s been slacking on the wedding duties (not that he was ever that involved :) ). He just wants to be married, and we are both at the point of ‘I can’t wait for this to be over’. If he only knew what he was getting himself into, I’m not so sure he would’ve put that ring on my finger. :)

After the rehearsal Friday afternoon, my planning period will be officially over – I’m going to enjoy the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day I’ve put so much time and effort into. I want to laugh with my family and friends despite the fact that it will most likely rain and we are getting married outside… on a boat. In the end, only I will notice if things don’t get done. We bought enough alcohol to erase any bad memories (i.e. a soaking wet ceremony and/or reception site).

These last two weeks have been intense - everyone keeps asking me if I’m excited, or nervous. And yes – I am. I’m excited… and nervous… and exhausted… and stressed… and anxious… and overwhelmed… and a little more excited. I’m a whole ball of emotions these days trying to confirm vendors, finish projects (there are still a few yet to be started) and make sure everyone else (i.e. our bridal party) knows what is going on and what to wear, etc.

I can’t wait to GRADUATE, and in lieu of a diploma, I get a husband—how great is that?

You said it!

No matter what the personality in the real world (read; ‘life outside of wedding planning’) guys all seem to be the same when it comes to making wedding decisions. My guy owns a limo company and thus helps brides plan wedding transportation all day long. Even as great as he is at doing this, and considering his analytical, task-oriented mind, (and excitement for our wedding) this logical thinking does NOT translate to making decisions and keeping a timeline for OUR wedding.

I’m a very artistic person and can’t get enough of DIY projects. He just can’t understand why it took an hour on the phone with the fabulous lady doing our invitations (check out adrianneasu on etsy.com) to make changes that are most likely unnoticeable to anyone making comparisons (I’ve tried to explain that it is all in attempts to make things EASIER for guests to navigate with returning those pesky byt neccessary little RSVP cards in the age of email and e-vites)!

That was a little bit funny in a way, you said your diploma is having a husband. All of your emotions are just but normal. Girl, I even remember when I was also getting married and I just couldn’t concentrate anymore during the last days. My heart was even beating so hard I could really feel it. Anyway, congratulations in advance. It also rained during my wedding day and I had an outdoor wedding. But we still had fun.

that’s a cute way to put it! You even get the finished with school emotions after it’s all over–relief, excitement and a little bit of dreading the ‘real world’, that is…life post wedding planning. You almost don’t know what to do with your time.

But enjoy these exciting last few days!
