Mrs. Candy Corn, Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 24, Senior Editor/Writer & Freelance Illustrator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Inventory Manager for a Music Publisher Engagement Date: September 1, 2004 Wedding Date: October, 2008 Blogging Since: May 6, 2008 Venue: Pennsylvania Museum of Archaelogy and Anthropology About Me: I enjoy people watching (especially in New Jersey malls), obsessive collecting, drooling over contemporary art, browsing flea markets for vintage finds and eating an absurd amount of cheese. In my Philadelphia abode, I create mixed media artwork and one-of-a-kind home accessories in the company of my farmer-tanned husband, our Westiepoo (Betty White), our three rabbits (Cadbury, Willie Nelson and Applesauce) and our two frisky chinchillas (Ethel Funk and Maude).
About candycorn

A lot of times I get asked the same question from my fellow twenty-something peers. “Why bother getting married when it’s so expensive and nothing really changes?” My answer is simple. When else am I going to have an opportunity to gather together with everyone we love and celebrate life? These are the people who helped shape our lives (well, most of them anyway). I wanted them to know not only how much they mean to us, but also how much we love each other and appreciate them for supporting us through our crazy journey. Without further ado, here are some of the brave souls who call us their friends or family.

A cute ex-co-worker with her man thannnnng (oh mah gah, I so wanted to steal her dress).

Mr. Candy Corn’s brothers are shamelessly munching on candy corn in this photo, but it kind of looks like they’re contemplating boozing it up (Did I really just say “boozing it up”? Yes, yes I did).

Mr. Candy Corn’s dad was on purse patrol. Such a good hubs he is. Type like Yoda I do.

A neighbor from my childhood inspecting our custom Jones soda bottles (how cute is she, matching our wedding colors!?).

grandma

My grandma is a cream soda kinda gal. She don’t mess around.

mask

It didn’t take long for our best man to snag the mask. Don’t worry, we got it back soon enough!

Mr. Candy Corn’s stepfather and “Mommy French” (Mr. Candy Corn’s grandma flew in all the way from France and didn’t speak a lick of English!!).

Another ex-coworker and his adorable girlfriend hamming it up during cocktail hour.

A co-worker with her hubs pose while the other guests take their seats.

N’aw, I wish I could rock a killer mustache like our friend. Okay, not really, that’s why I invest in Nair. Oh snap, I’ve exposed too much again.

My super fantabulous MOH with her parents, whose house became my second home in high school!

I finally found a friend who makes faces that are as crazy as mine. She’s a keeper.

High school friends never go out of style. Bee shout out to Nicole, who totally reads this shizzle fo’ rizzle (I’m not even sure what I said there)!

One of our bridesmaids with her boyfriend, who just so happened to have proposed this month! She will probably read this since now she’s all engaged and fancified, so I wanted to say hi to her tooooo!

Mr. Candy Corn’s stepsister with her awesomely rambunctious boyfriend.

I apologize that this post couldn’t be more exciting, but I promise the next one will more than make up for it (dun dun dun!!!). I just wanted to introduce you to a handful of people who rock our world on a weekly basis.

Love the Jones soda! And you should have taken that ex-co-worker’s dress and screamed “It’s MY wedding, I do what I WANT!” while doing it.

It’s so fun to see reception photos. I think there was something totally rewarding about seeing all the people you love having a good time. I think that’s what it’s all about! Thanks for sharing “your people” with us. :)

Everyone is having such a great time! You’re right, this is what the expense is all about. When else do you get to be the center of attention?

I love the pic with the mask - those are hysterical! Some of my favorite pictures from our engagement party are when someone busted out a box of props for the YMCA and they stayed out all night!
